New Corvette in RHD. Why the hideous UK price?

I dabbled with getting a Corvette end of this year now they are playing with the big boys. Mid-engine, etc., plus RHD.
But why is it £100,000 and above when they are a (converted) £60,000 in USA? That's a mad mark up and will see me in a used 458 instead. For me as a Corvette lover they are never a 6 figure car. Certainly not with 460 bhp either.

The UK price is very similar to the US price for like for like. Only high spec Corvettes are available in the UK, base models are not available. Under £100k gets you a fully optioned Z51 3LT Convertible.
Not included in US price is 20% UK vat and £2,000 first registration fee.

you cant get a C8 in the states for sticker price, dealers putting up to 20% on due to demand, C7 prices through the roof as well as yanks dont like the euro look and cant handle paddle shift, gm just announced warranty invalid if you flip your c8 z06 within a year,unless thats a hoax
As already said, the trim/option levels available here are much fewer meaning cars come more loaded than the oft quoted base model that you can buy for $60k!!
Additionally the exchange rate is proper pants currently.
What most people never seem to mention is unless you're in a select few states you're going to be paying sales tax on that MSRP. This varies between states but where I was (NV), it was 8.1% collected on the total cost of car/registration etc.
You won't get anywhere near an MSRP deal at the moment and these prices vary massively between dealers and their allocations. The Chevy dealer in Vegas told me when I enquired about a new C7 that I would be paying at least $10k over MSRP if I placed an order that day.
Import duty and VAT adds a phenomenal amount too.
When you consider that a well specced C8 is likely to be more like $80k + on the road in the US it is easy to see how it will be £80k plus here.
Of course, Top Gear will tell you that those lucky yanks are driving around in Vettes for the price of a well specced hatch back all day long but it's codswallop.

My high-spec C8 3LT Convertible with just about everything came in at about £98k. I worked it out that take out the import duty, VAT, and first registration tax, the price was just about the same as 'sticker' price (list price) in the USA - slightly cheaper actually due to poor exchange rate. OK, we had to wait a couple of years, but we get a bargain here.
Clive Sutton have been advertising that Rapid Blue C8 that they haven't got, for about a year. Take no notice of it.

Well,.. I have just been looking at the new UK C8 2023 price list on Chevrolet UK web-site..
I see a 2LT coupe now starts at £87,320 and a 3LT Convertible starts at £95,270 for 2023 cars. Options will take these up to and over £100k. This is mainly due to the fall in the Pound against the US Dollar since C8's started to arrive in this country. Some people are squealing, but still a lot of car for the money. It's not GM's fault, cars are going up in price a similar amount across the board. Blame our ever plunging currency...!
I bet if Clive Sutton really have that Rapid Blue car they would be asking a lot more than £105k for it!
