@GFWilliams - looks great fun. Must do that. Do you know how they change the setup to get it drift so well?
@griffchris - great car colour. What's doing the overlay for you?
The overlay is via a smartphone app - Harry's Laptimer - though the G-meter is a bit off! Syncs with the Gopro via wifi.@griffchris - great car colour. What's doing the overlay for you?
Oulton Park yesterday - good day with plenty of Caterhams including Sir Chris Hoy(!) and Graham Macdonald (CEO of Caterham) - though sadly not in this video!

New to the track days in my Caterham 620R, good fun exploring the limits just a pain driving 3 hours home in torrential rain with an aeroscreen

Here's one of my 360 videos coming back over the mountain from Aberdovey to Welshpool on the fish and chip run on Saturday.
It's a bit wobbly sadly as I forgot to tighten the base clamp properly.

Cool camera! What model is that Nigel?
It's the new Nikon Keymission 360.Lots of people saying it's no good, and that you shouldn't buy it,
It's true the software is very flaky, and not up to usual Nikon standards, but I took a punt, as I know the sheer power Nikon has, they will fix the software in a few releases!
I looked at all the other 360 cameras out there, like the Ricoh theta and the Samsung, but they are cheap flimsy items, that just won't stand up to the abuse mounted on a caterham doing track days.
The Nikon on the other hand is a proper professional grade unit.
It's waterproof, dust proof and shock proof too, perfect for the harsh environment on the Caterham
I will do some more videos in different camera locations this week until I find one that's perfect!

Perfect timing Nigel as I'm looking at 360 cameras. Does the Nikon allow for an external mic to be hooked up?Lots of people saying it's no good, and that you shouldn't buy it,

First time to Oulton park, and loved every minute of it. what a quality circuit and having 35 other 7's on the track for company made it a special day.

While we're on Oulton park, here's yours truly setting the fastest lap on the way to my first and so far only win of the 2017 Caterham Graduates Sigmax championship... it was wet...

Sorry missed this auestionnn buddy! Sadly no it does not allow for an external microphone.
However the more I have looked into the fact that an external microphone would allow better sound quality, the more I have come to realise that it's just not the right solution any more.
The reason being, where ever the camera is placed, particularly on my caterham as an example, it will never be good for sound, and using the camera for sound storage also limits the quality of the sound and the storage capacity too.
Much better then to have a dedicated recorder, that will, record true stereo sound, which will allow the use of seperate external microphones placed in different locations around the car.
I already have a rode video Mic, so I'm going to use that, and hook it up to something like this, that i can also use with my Nikon SLR for other sound recording jobs.

An *almost* clean lap of Spa in a 420R Donington Edition - seems it's a bit quicker than an MX5...
