It looks like the LBN has been grinded off, but the caliper looks ok. If you want to have a look I am situated in Oslo

Sure would love a look but I'm in Stavanger :-( So will have to wait for spring ;-)

Once the weather turns better I'm due a blat over to Østfold anyway to meet someone & sell him some bike bits so I can visit you then - even if your brakes are all back together would be good to meet up anyway ;-)

I've just sorted out my front brakes 260mm x 10mm with HiSpec lug mounted calipers:
http://www.hispecbrake.co.uk/Ultralite%204%20Cater...

I'm driving (not the 7!) over to the UK late March to pick up a Raceco pipe & some other bits & bobs together with these brakes so I need now to sort out my rears too before then...!

Good luck with your Hispec callipers. Make sure you keep chasing him, and that he definately has your parts before you go to get them.
I would say he's like dealing with Mike Barnby. rolleyes
Did me a favour in the end, as I gave up, went elsewhere, and ended up with something better.

Hmmm - I've heard mixed reviews on HiSpec service but I have the time and I have a party in the UK who's sourcing me the bits & bobs who may have some more clout ;-)

Of course I'd love to your set-up or similar but a) it's really overkill for my use & b) I think I could risk trouble at "MoT" time here in Norway - they're more strict on things like radial mounting brackets etc etc - essentially these sort of things & car modification in general is not allowed unless it's specced by the manufacturer (or TuV approved and you submit the mods to a control inspection) and so on & so forth... Lug mounted black bodied calipers on a solid disc will pass through easily me thinks, and will be more than sufficient stopping power for my use... ;-)

Nothing wrong with lug mounted callipers. I was just giving you a heads up on the service, in case you where expecting straightforward. I hope you have more luck than I did.
Hopefully we'll see pictures of your shiny new setup soon? wink

Actually I've just booked my flights back to U.K. so I'll be popping over to see the Guys at BGD to get some parts made for my rear brakes. smile

I understand what you're saying about getting it through MOT. I live in Spain, and I doubt I'll ever get my car on Spanish plates. But why should politics BS stop me building my ultimate Seven?

Regards,
Mick.smile

No problems at all with lug mounts - it's what I've been looking for - most of the upgrade kits out there for a while (other than the Caterham) were radial mount. As this involves a set of "no-no" adapter brackets it's not what I was after & I don't need the "heavy" vented Caterham jobs for fast road work - I want feel & modulation and now HiSpec have added these to their portfolio they seem to be the only option...

Be good to see more of your brake setup too, to dream on... gotta love those "Terminatoresque" AP's!

Think I've sorted out my rear setup too - gonna go for the SPC kit minus the cast iron calipers with HiSpec Sierra lug mount IVA jobs:

Hi Knut - I think you may have some folk confused - "Umbraco" is actually "Unbrako" and for those outside Norway (or at least from the UK) these are more commonly known as "Allen" screws or bolts ;-)

Shame to see you had to use washers - a neater solution may have been to fabricate a spacer plate.. - Was this essentially to centralise the caliper properly or was it another clearance issue?

Nice weight saving though - looking forward to the handbrake cable set-up ;-)

Allen screw..... I knew that....

Anyway, the washers was to center the caliper. I could of course fabricate a spacer plate or make the whole bracket 4mm wider, but that would just take too much time and effort. Besides the strength is all good anyway. Best and fastest solution is just to weld it in place. I might do that at a later stage...

My neighbors water intake broke due to the cold. No damage on his property, but he filled up my garage...

You can get those suits in all the stores. It's the high fashion here in Norway biggrin

Lost another day on the project since the primer was too thin in places, so I have decided to have another go with primer before paint. I realy don't have time since there is other projects waiting. But then again, I won't paint the car in 5-6 years so lets do it right first time!

Target now is to have the paint finished by Friday
Ready for next layer of primer:

Still keeping up with your progress Knut - Jealous that you're moving so quick & I've done absolutely nothing - doesn't help that wifey's car occupies most of our garage such that the Lotus is squeezed in at the beck, behind the bikes, behind the skis, behind the sledges, behind the... well I'm sure you get the idea..!

I'll be over in the east sometime this early summer & will have to drop past for en kopp kaffe ;-)

Spraying - my favourite part of rebuilds. Means the cars nearly finished thumbupsmile
Hope you are doing the work yourself.
Very satisfying to spray a car, and very easy too, key is good preparation.
What colour are you painting it??

Nice to see that there is some interest smile
if anyone is passing by in the Oslo area, you are most welcome to drop by.

As for colour, I am going for RAL2004 solid orange. One of the original colours was Orange but this colour should be more in the line of the current Caterhma orange.

I put on the last layer of primer today and will go for color and clear tomorrow. And yes, I do all work myself. I like to learn, so i try all kind of stuff. I have done some painting of wheels and different parts earlier, but this is first time doing a whole car. If you can call a Seven a whole car....

Stay tuned, pics of freshly painted S4 should be up tomorrow 8 of March(late..)
