Ok thats pretty decent!. Is you car road reg'd/ two seats etc, i wonder if built from scratch purely for racing how light you could get one?
Yeh, there was a guy a couple of years ago at Spa who ran a green coloured one, i was looking forward to a scrap but it rained....and i was on Kumho/ Mediums?! pah lousy excuse!
Looking good though.

Above 415kgs is as light as you can go without taking interior panels out of the chassis, you can get the engine up to 250bhp as well but they are not the best for longevity at that power Nat asp when used for circuit racing, but ideal for hillclimbing, However turbo or supercharged busa are over 300 bhp with relative ease.
The green car belongs to Doug Newman who pioneered the concept of a bike engine in a 7, first with the blackbird , then latterly the busa.
I've had a previous 7 that weighed 470kgs and had a 275bhp alloy blocked vx engine, yet the 1400cc busa powered cars were quicker on the hillclimbs i do, as ultimately they were more nimble.
Personally for circuit racing i'd stick with a duratec / sadev seq combo

Thats good to know, and the guys name rings a bell.
The only problem with the duratec/ sadev-60G....combo is the expense. For a fresh install with new components your not far off 20 grand. The powertec 250bhp engine i have heard, have a 20 hour re-build interval, which the same as the duratec im using at the moment.
Speaking to RPE, you could have the unit for half that approx, i suppose with a few bits thrown in there, ex-system, management, tanks, etc you may have to throw a couple more £ at it.
If the result was a 100kg less, mine is 530kg with standard box, then as you say you have a more nimble car. Whats your reason for using the duratec with seq box for circuit racing? The races i do a more 15 min durations.

What sort of costs approx are involved in a re-build/ re-fresh? Who do you use?
Sam my 1550 busa was built by extreme, was full spec think power quoted was around 250bhp but not sure how correct that was cant remember the figures but it didnt make that on Mcdonalds rollers?? when it went bang (just under 20hours) it cost me £4500 to rebuild inc a couple of gears in the box and that was with a new block, rods and pistons I sold the car shortly after that and the guy that got the motor had it built twice as it grenaded itself again .ref power, I raced against your car when Phil had it unfortunately I was plagued with a misfire when it got hot but in a straightline drag your duratec was certainly quicker once it got moving. mine was in a westy (495kg) and best lap time at croft I managed was a 1.29 on road tyres where as I did a 1.28 in my first ever race in that duratec caterham on same tyres and suspect I could have got that down easily into the low 27"s with a bit more time in the seat and a clear track, personally from my experience In your position I would stick with a big power duratec.

To be honest 4500 for a rebuild is about the same as the duratec, there will be differences with components etc but i had it rebuilt with a new block, pistons, rods, cams, springs and a few other bits. My oil pumnp belt went at Croft just after this and i was lucky the crank was ok, but bottom end was gone apart from this as well as pump in for a service....this was about half that, but a new cranks about 2.5 so would have been another 4.5/ 5 if that had went.ref power, I raced against your car when Phil had it unfortunately I was plagued with a misfire when it got hot but in a straightline drag your duratec was certainly quicker once it got moving. mine was in a westy (495kg) and best lap time at croft I managed was a 1.29 on road tyres where as I did a 1.28 in my first ever race in that duratec caterham on same tyres and suspect I could have got that down easily into the low 27"s with a bit more time in the seat and a clear track, personally from my experience In your position I would stick with a big power duratec.
The problem is seq box, i got into the low 1.29's last year on treaded tyres, the track is slower this year for some reason, lack of use, less rubber on etc i reckon sub 1.29s are do-able in this guise, but now its coming in at 530kg and putting out 280hp, im 100kg ....but if i go to slicks then a seq is needed and this is 6 grand approx, otherwise im not going to get near to 1.26's which is slicks terratory.
A sub 6 grand solution is needed, and with 30hp less but around 430kg etc the busa engine had all the figures and with the same figures for rebuilds as my duratec approx, it was on the list.
