How do I join the group? I just see 'closed group' and no button to join or contact the admin.

I've just bought a 2.0 Zetec from an existing member and would like to be allowed in please.

Cheers,
Nathaniel

You should be able to request to join.

If you continue to have problems send me a message via FB Messenger and I'll get it sorted for you.

Does this group still exist? I thought I was in, but it's disappeared from my facebook.

Recently it went to secret status, then it's back to being a closed group. In the meantime Chrisp has banned me, I evidently said something that struck a nerve. Ho hum.

I saw it go secret, then back to closed. Now I can't see it. I wondered if I was banned, which might account for it being invisible to me. Shame if that's the case as a) I'm not clear why I would have been banned, b) I had no message even to say I'd been banned, put on time-out etc. and especially c) It was a really useful group.

All in all, a bit weird. Mind you, almost all online iterations of Caterham content have had some sort of wibble-wobble this year. If I was a new owner, I'd think it all very strange. I can at least take solace in the continuation of RedLine, as I discovered in LF.

If Chrisp has any input, I'd be grateful. Be a shame to no longer have access to a segment of the community for reasons unknown.

I have absolutely no idea what's going on with the group. I spotted it had changed it's status at some point over the weekend.

Seems there's been some sort of falling out.

There does seem to be a very vocal small minority in the online Caterham community that simply can't get along.

I'd realised there was some disquiet which resulted in the group going secret, I've only been on Facebook a few weeks and had done so purely for the Caterham chat ... seems it might be better to stick to Pistonheads and Blatchat! Chrisp had made it secret, he created the group in the first place so I politely stated it was his football and he was able to take it home if he wished. Maybe that was too frank!

Ah - I replied to that thread - maybe we all got binned in one fell swoop. Very strange anyway. I've met Christian at a PT Sprots Cars open day and he seems a thoroughly nice chap. I can imagine admin'ing a group of 2,500 for "fun" could get on your wick somewhat though. Interacting on the internet does funny things to people I guess - I read stuff I'm sure would never get said face to face all the time. As I said, shame - it was a good resource - especially for the more social side if you're not into the official L7C regional meets thing.

I left the group approx 6 months ago when the guy running the group admitted that he was mainly doing it to get back at the Lotus 7 club....
Decided not to be a part of someone else's vendetta. Shame but there you are.

The guy who set it up banned me 3 years ago. 2 months in to ownership of a 7 and after I queried why he had insulted a member of the L&C club, by name, on a Facebook page he’d blocked them from.

Since then he continued to squabble on various forums and took a profile picture of me from my personal Facebook page to caption and insult me on other forums. I had had this picture taken to show my friends how well I was doing after 3 years of cancer treatment. He knew about my treatment.

After protest he removed it from the L&C forum.

I’ve never met him. I put him in the ‘wibble’ category ages ago.

I’ve been told that, ironically, the current spat relates to his personal photos being used on a rival forum (which I am not a member of either) that showed his children. If that is true, then I feel that’s awful for him and commiserate. I know how he feels as ironically, he did similar to me by using my photo. I take no pleasure from the current situation for 7 owners.

I feel sorry for you as I can defend myself, robustly. Any 'beef' is between you and me.

I have no idea what was said or done regarding your personal pictures, or what led to any current spat...to me that steps across a line. There is no aspect of ignorance in what the pictures may mean to you, as in my case. That's why I feel bad about it happening to you. Indeed I see your name is on a list (of two) on a 'chit chat' page as being banned.

Rather than think "hey, that's the place for me" I feel, again, it's wrong to name people like that on a page where they are unlikely to go, or aren't welcome.

The ban applied to you was lifted some time ago, the doors open to you.

Enough is enough and I’m tired of all the rubbish. It’s hard running a site and I’ve made some bad calls. It’s easy to think of the self rather than the wider group and that leads to hurt and drama.

As that's the first I've learned about being unblocked I'll have to think what to do.

I know I've been unable to see the page very recently as since I was blocked it doesn't come up at all on my Facebook.

You have bigger problems so I'll leave it at that.

I managed a ban from the group a few months ago when my wife and I were on the wrong end of some “banter” from an admin of the group. This was then followed up with a threat that we would be blocked from all the larger owners group pages on Facebook along with “don’t you know who X is?” As I wasn’t impressed by the threat and didn’t know or care who X was, I managed to get a temporary ban upgraded to lifetime.

It’s a Facebook group, there are plenty of others and I can’t say I miss it.

The group I was associated with has now been closed.

Anyone who remains linked is kindly requested to remove themselves from the group so it can be swiftly deleted.

Thank you.

Cheers - saw the post on BC. It's a shame when you do something good and constructive and it ends up torn down. I shan't ask, nor would expect a reply if I did, but I can imagine the legal action and where it likely came from. Sad really. 2017 seems a year to forget for Caterham owners and the various clubs, groups, assemblies, qangos and gangs.

What?

So someone has threatened you with legal action and now the Group that you started has closed down? Legal action for what reason?

Seems a real shame!

Maybe it's time to start an "I was banned from the Caterham & Lotus 7 Owners Group Facebook and given no reason" group - there'd be almost as many members as the erstwhile group itself.
