Apologies for the amateur nature of these questions.

1992 Super Sprint 1.7 crossflow Ford engine.

1. On the dashboard there is a two position switch with a fan symbol, It doesn't appear to be a cooling fan override switch (unless its broken) and the car doesn't have a heater so what is the purpose of the switch?

2. There is a small weep on the radiator top hose, if I replace the hose are the silicone type better than good old fashioned rubber hoses and is there a good source of hoses or should I stick with Caterham?

1. This would originally have been the switch for the heater (sounds like the heater has been removed) but I did end up using it as a fan over-ride switch once I had removed the heater.

2. Personally I'd go for silicon hoses, I think i purchased mine from Caterham but that was back in 2007.

Sold all things x/flow related on 2010 when I installed a Zetec. Nevertheless the silicon hoses fitted in 2010 look as good as new.

The two position switch is definitely the fan for the heater. The heater cannot be altered temperature wise. All that can be done is that the heater fan speed can be altered.

As yours has no heater, the switch is redundant.
