Well one month into Caterham ownership and the tinkering has started!

Before

Had it polished by Albion Plating in Partridge Green, Sussex. They did a great job and very reasonably priced too.

Did they have any advice on maintaining it like that?

It will become slightly less shiny with use but to keep the shine just use a good quality compound polish that is similar to'T' cut something like 3M finesse it is vey good at minor paint correction and is also a great stainless polish .

I usually use autosol metal polish. Any stubborn marks can be removed with some fine wet and dry paper.

This. Mine was done two years ago and is still fine.

If you decide to polish the catalyst/collector pipe, don't do the part that is clamped by the silencer pipe. If you do, the silencer will tend to rotate and you'll have a droopy tail pipe.

That can happen in any case. I didn't have the cat polished, nor the inside of the silencer but, after almost two years, it decided to repeatedly droop and wouldn't stay up at all with the normal clamp.

I had to get a very heavy duty clamp to fix it.

Have you had the rest of the exhaust done as well? What did it set you back cost wise?

I had mine done together with the 4 downpipes, didn't bother with the cat. It cost me about £120 iirc.

The down pipes still discolour but they still look better than not polished.
