Hi all,
has anyone ever had there brake lights and reverse light stop working?

I didn't build mine so don't fully understand the car my brake lights don't illuminate on the pedal. I checked all the fuses, cleaned terminals within the light box, replaced a few washers on the fuel tank ground they worked after that i came back the next day and they again stopped working. Sidelights all work fine and bulb filaments look good.

I then cleaned and ordered a new brake sensor but no luck. After that I cleaned the ground by the battery where the wires come into the engine bay again nothing.

Is there another ground to the rear lights? I'm convinced it's a ground as they were working but i'm all out of grounds as far as I can see. I also disconnected the ground in the rear light cluster and it had no effect to the sidelights. I'm sure this means something significant but I don't know what
!

Any advise appreciated!

Check the brake light switch located in the peddle box. They have a reputation for getting dirty and failing. Mine has failed twice. You can easily remove it and clean it.

Thanks Doug.
I had already tried that. I bought a replacement but the switch wasn't at fault.

It turned out to be a relay in the end. And the reverse light failure was the switching wires falling off from the gearbox.

All sorted now!
