I'm sure this must have been covered but I couldn't find anything. I've just bought a 2012 RR with a 30 pin iPhone connector. I imagined simply switching to an 8 pin lead would have been straightforward, but apparently not, the don't seem to exist.

The phone pairs remotely well enough, but I cant find a way to a proper music interface without using the mini jack, which is far from ideal

Whats the best way to do it?

Thanks

James

Have you tried searching on the relevant model forums? Full faster is one of most popular. Owned by the same guy who runs the Disco3 forums.

If memory serves, you can bin the standard stereo and replace with something from an X5 which will give you much better compatibility with iPhones and Bluetooth streaming. However it's about £1k to do that.

Cheers - tried Landyzone, but not much there either.

It seems bizarre I cant just let a lead to replace the 30 pin one - don't get it.

You can buy a 30 pin to 8 pin adaptor from any Apple shop or authorised retailer.
Worked fine on my 2010.

Thanks - I have one of those, and whilst it charges OK, it won't play music - the car just doesn't see it. Its an aftermarket on - I'll try an Apple one

My Apple one works just fine if a little fiddly... my after market one didn't!

I also have a VMAEO thingamajig and that works quite well smile As in wireless and phone just sits there whilst the leads are all tucked away - you will find it difficult to get one of these though now.

It isn't a completely fool proof system on mine but works well enough via either route above.

FFRR is a pretty useful forum for all of these queries and tons of other useful info re these amazing cars smile
