New battery

The battery on my R500k has finally given up the ghost. Current battery is a banner buy before I replace with like for like are then any other batteries I should be looking at?

I recently had my R400D battery fail. 3 yo Banner.

I looked hard and long at various Li Fe batteries etc but reached the conclusion that they’re too expensive and potentially short lived to be justified by the weight saving, especially for road use.

I also looked at Odyssey AGM; advantage of being dry and very reliable but no weight saving and work needed to fit.

Put another Banner on in the end. About £70 from Tayna, delivered next day.

Or, just look at the size and spec (cold cranking amps, etc) of the Oddesey battery and buy a circa £30 equivalent from Tayna (or equivalent)?

I tried to run an odyssey in my r500k but despite the cranking amps being ok, the cranking voltage was too low and I had endless starting issues. Changed back to a banner, no more issues.

It was a shame as I had a lovely battery box made for the gel battery!
