Man it sucks being this side of the pond.

All I see is stuff for sale on the Caterham FB for sale page, all those Blatts, track days, meetups, people being human and I'm stuck here dealing with the Orange Ball Sack, Kids Killing Kids the NRA dictating policies, Petrols in trucks and no B roads. wanting this that and the other for my build and stuck trying to subtituite Caterham parts that may or may not fit.

Rant over I am looking to replace the race seats for something a little more forgiving but cannot seem to find anything to fit, anyone know the maximum dimensions for a replacement seat.

Steve, not sure you'll find anything readily available that isn't specifically designed for a Caterham. If you are looking I think I'd just measure the width available and if you find something that fits width-wise, investigate further. The Caterham S-Type seats which will make full use of the available width, do not really look like a proper seat when out of the car because they have so little side structure. I'd also get in touch with other owners your side of the pond.
BTW, where in Florida are you?
Stu.

Do you have tillets?

If so could you look at getting the padded seat inserts for them to provide some cushioning?

Your other post re rim sizes.....plus you mentioned the Caterham and Lotus 7 FB page, there's a member on there Randy Carter, he lives your side of the pond and races a 7 and has really wide wheels on his, so maybe he can suggest some rims.

As always Thanks you for the suggestions
I ended up ordering one of these to see if it will fit

https://www.walmart.com/ip/American-Racing-AR95-Es...

Not perfect a little narrow (and shiny) but pretty much the only road legal ones I could find in a 13" 4 bolt.
and considering there is not a corner within 100 miles they may work out for trips to the shops

It's doubtful that wheel would be suitable but you can try it - the offset is likely to be the biggest issue.

From the picture of your car you currently have KN Caterham Superlight R wheels, these will be 13" x 8.5" rear and 13" x 6.5" front, originally made for Caterham by KN Wheels. You might find in the long run it's better to contact a supplier in the UK and have an appropriate wheel & tyre set shipped out.

I think the usual offset for Caterham wheels is ET24. Those ones are ET35.

So basic back of a fag packet sums suggests:
Wheel width (5.5) so width from centre line is = 2.75
offset is 35mm = 1.4 inches roughly

2.75 inches + 1.4 inches = 4.15 inches.

Think the MB/SLR rear rims are usually 6 inch inner with 2.5 outer so those AR wheels shouldn't foul anything like the de Dion ears or arches but guess they will look like they are disappearing under the wheel arches.

Of course I could have got this entirely wrong.

Can you not contact members in the US? California Caterham Club or others?

Good luck with the search!

At this point is may just be easiest to find streetable/Track all season tires that will work but that in itself is proving difficult.

Which kinda sucks as my Hoosier slicks kick ass on the track but I really want to be able to drive to Walmart and back

So weighing the pros and Cons of trying to find a streetable/Track All Weather Tire

Pros:
1) Less greif from the wife
2) ......Less grief from the wife

Cons:
1) Very Very Limited choices
2 ) Price
3) Tracks days will get much slower
4) Show what a bad driver I really am
5) Get overtaken a by a Corvette
4) Wife is still talking to me

FYI: Don't know if they are still around but my email to KN Wheels was kicked back as a "mailbox full" error

I assume the superlite R rims are no longer available?

As I am out of options this side of the pond are there any suggestion on aftermarket rims available in the UK @13x6.5 and 13x8.5?
I would like something other than the generic Caterham 13x6.5 and 13x8.
I am back in Brighton this August and may just buy some and have them shipped to my sisters and figure how to get them home from there
(Anyone selling rims?)

And sorry for the uninformed question what size rubber to I run on the 13x8s or 8.5

Quite a few options for you but none will be particularly cheap.

Most expensive would be the Mike Barnby (MB) R500 wheels. Typically they are magnesium centres but he could do ali ones. Reckon on £1200 for four I think.
The advice is magnesium ones should be crack tested every so often which would be a pain for you stateside. Ali ones would be fit and forget.

Rial also do some as do Compomotive.
On a train at the mo so not easy to get links etc but will do that later.
Also you could look at Image Wheels - their billet 93 wheels looks good. Again all quite expensive.

Other option is to trawl the classifieds in the U.K. and see if you can secure a set before your trip in August. Could save you a few dollars.

Tyres:
For 6 or 6.5 fronts you will want 185/60 R 13s o(for Yokohama or Toyo) or 175/55 for Avon’s from Caterham
For 8.5 rears you will want 205/60 R 13s (for Yokohama, Toyo etc). For the life of me I can’t think what the Avon rears are off the top of my head right now!
Plenty of tyres choices.

You could obviously still look at 6inch all round (for minilites or similar) for general driving which would be cheaper to buy and for tyres too.

Should really stick this back in your rim sizes thread but hey-ho

Avon rears for 8.5 are 215/55s

Some links for you re the wheels:

MB wheels (r500 Mag 8s)

MBs are my favourites! (ahem) here are mine.

Wonder if these are still available?

Image Billet 93 (but you could potentially choose other designs)
