Personally I'd definitely wear ear plugs as well with a helmet. The one you linked to looks fine and I was going to suggest getting one with a built in visor. If you are thinking of going on trackdays though you might get refused with this helmet as its an open face helmet (albeit with the full visor) and several places I've been have insisted on full face as we have open cockpit cars.

I aeroscreen most of the time and try to not use my lid unless its belting with rain or very cold. Most of the times I have two motorcycle buffs to protect the lower part of my face, Wiley-X googles and sometimes a beanie.

Earplugs. These provide enough protection but allow me and Mrs A to converse.
I also use the Etymotic ER20 eyeplugs, with a pair my partner, and some disposables infrequent passengers on other than a very short spin. Screen and side doors.

I dont really listen to music while driving the westfield, even on a long drive when touring, just dont feel the need or even that is it that appropriate, however if I was I expect I would use an in-ear headphone on the quieter inside ear, and the ER20 on the outside so I still had clear ability to listen to the surroundings.

Bolle safety glasses for eyes (you can get UV/sunglass versions as well as clear) and only cost a few quid

As for hearing I (like a lot of fellow tiger and westy owners) use proper, over ear, ear defenders purchased from that big website named after a river, modified to include a handsfree headset so I can listen to music, use the phone hands free

Keeps all the noise out, can listen to music without being deafened and can still hear sirens
Do this with my westy. Means you get music and ear protection without being deafened,.and if you go out with others and they have the same system you can have intercom together. This is what a lot in the NW Kit car group do

So, as the OP on the thread (which was 2 years ago - how did that happen) and having tried a few different options, I finally went with a set of Bertoni tinted, lightweight motorcycle goggles and some Bluetooth Shure SE215s.

Both do a great job of improving things, and the earphones give you the option of music if you want it.

Many happy hours spent blatting since smile

I don't think my car is that loud !
Upto 60 mph a base ball cap and my regular glasses seem fine.
Above that I wear my full face helmet.
My car has the standard full screen.
With full weather gear fitted it's fine.

I thought I'd revive this thread rather than start again. I'm about to buy a ridiculous kit car, not quite settled on which one yet but it's likely to be aero screened. I'm thinking open face helmet with a visor? i.e. something like this;

https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/...

That way I get decent visibility but less bees in the face. What are the seasoned aero peoples thoughts? Would I want ear plugs under a helmet? Am I better with separate goggles/helmet? My limited experience is that I really don't like the resitricted visibility that comes with full faced helmets. Even when I did a lot of paintballing I used to use a 'bubble' type mask that looked a bit like i had half a goldfish bowl stuck to my face... Now that I type that, I wonder if a paintball mask would work!

I wear glasses when driving so a recommendation that works well with them would be nice. Prescription driving goggles?
Not sure if you are going to track your car, but a point of consideration may be you need a full face helmet on an open top car on track.
