New caterham ownership didnt start well
Discussion
Picked up my first ever and new caterham yesterday from Oakmere and when i first saw it in the showroom my first thought was i dont like the front number plate it looks hideous so got the salesman to remove it before i drove away, well what a plonker i had done about 10 miles before i got nicked and a £100 on the spot fine ive had a fair few nice motors with no front plate but this time wasnt meant to be copper was a miserable c**k too, hey ho lesson learnt (not)
Which variant new Caterham did you buy?
What colour, what spec?
Aside from your run in with ‘the law’, how was your journey home in your first ever Caterham?
I tend to agree that legal full sized plates on the front (of an S3 especially) look disproportionately large but I waited until I got home before swapping for a slightly smaller motorcycle font derivative. Cost less than £100 too
Happy motoring

Congrats on the new purchase, I went to have a look at a ?Competition red 620R at Oakmere last Sunday afternoon, but it had sold that morning - I presume to you, you lucky sod! You snooze you loose.... I fully approve of the aeroscreen regardless of weather.
Re: the front plate - I have a 3/4 size plate on the front of my 420R which looks much better than a standard size plate IMO, and because the front on an S3 Caterham is so small it looks in proportion, I think it very unlikely plod would pick up on it.

Wasn't me I bought mine bout 3 weeks ago and had to wait for the registration to be set up and then for a decent day's weather as I wanted to drive it home, The Mrs ent keen but I absolutely love it,Re: the front plate - I have a 3/4 size plate on the front of my 420R which looks much better than a standard size plate IMO, and because the front on an S3 Caterham is so small it looks in proportion, I think it very unlikely plod would pick up on it.

Personally speaking I would be a little cautious about pushing the wiper wheel boxes back into the scuttle. You can buy small black covers that go over the splines. Know several people who have had all sorts of problems getting them back through, DONT slacken off the wiper mechanism under the scuttle it can be a real bh getting all lined up again. Just my 2 cents worth
