Not so sure that I would agree with the new Caterham slogan, "We dont do tech"

As far as I can see, Caterham have been doing tech for many years, ask any modern Caterham owner how many sensors there are on their car, I agree they may not do PAS/PB and traction control. but they do tech make no mistake.

Its a great add and I get the point, but saying they dont do tech is misleading, they do tech just NOT some tech

Of course there’s some tech but other than what comes with the engine management, nothing of a high level.

Happy New Year Trackdayguy,

I’m not sure what you want to extract from this. Caterham are clearly making an advertising stance based on the well known (to us especially) position that they offer a product free of driver assistance ‘tech’. That’s it. At no point is anyone suggesting or believing they can produce a road or track worthy car that will still function following an EMP detonation in the subsphere. Yes, the cars have tech, no they don’t assist the driver. It’s a borderline tautology to say this isn’t complicated.

Happy New Year to you 2.

Its a great add and I get it, I'm Just being pedantic about the use of words. smile I think they should have chosen another word, maybe "Organic or no additives" . Just my 2 cents, this what happens when you get old, senile and grumpy.

Arguably ‘tech’ started when the first Neolithics picked up a rock or branch and shaped it as a tool. Even a button is ‘tech’ , its a question of degree and interpretation.

The point they are making is that the car is not swamped by nannying systems which detract from the pure joy of the driving experience. It get’s my vote.

After failing with the Caterham 21, Caterham SP/300.R, Caterham Seven CSR, Caterham Karts, Caterham Aero Seven, Caterham Motorbikes, Caterham Push-bikes, and of course - Caterham F1, a more accurate slogan would be:

"Caterham: We can't do Technology."

Turning "we can't, so we gave up" into "we choose not to" is the marketing equivalent of "I was going to break up with her anyway".

Interestingly, I can't get the ad out of my head, it's brilliant. If I ever break out of my 911 addiction, a Caterham will be back!
