Interesting comments in the seller's description:-
"I have no proof that the car is a 1968 model but it does look old, so my guess is it is authentic, but i do not guarantee this." (The boy's no fool)
"I was thinking of having it resprayed in original prisoner lotus 7 colours and then the price would increase massively but i cant be bothered."

So he says it had a colour change in 1998.
I suspect that was when it’s identity was created from the Elan one, so it’s pretty annoying it is MOT exempt and tax exempt, when it clearly isn’t really 40 years old.
Bit it looks old so must be authentic....I suspect that was when it’s identity was created from the Elan one, so it’s pretty annoying it is MOT exempt and tax exempt, when it clearly isn’t really 40 years old.
Avoiding MoT means they won't pick up on the fact it aint an Elan and therefore it'll not get scrapped unless DVLA/VOSA find it for some reason.
Of course it could be a perfectly usable (I'll refrain from saying nice or good) car for the price but you'd need to wear a mask.
