My SLR was also dark blue (Lotus Azure Blue) and I hated it. I recently had it resprayed and looked at the current Porsche solid colours available for the 911, in the end I opted for Porsche Miami Blue, a colour I'd seen on a Porsche at Spa and it looked stunning. Bright solid colours are my preference to metallics but it needs a good paint shop to get a deep shine with a bright colour, preferably a clear gloss over base colour paint system which unfortunately i don't think Caterham's painters do for non-metallics.

Any chance you could post some images of the complete car in its Miami hue? Certainly the front end looks mega!

James
If you search on Porsche Miami Blue Caterham 7, you’ll get a few images.

It's actually an incredibly hard colour to photograph, there's quite a bit of turquoise in it but that seems to disappear on the photos. Here's a full shot of the car plus a Porsche image which is probably the most accurate photo I've found. Most of the big performance car manufacturers are now doing similar colours.

Funny how those two images seem to depict two different colours!

Thanks for posting them, though.

Very nice.

As much as i liked the carbon fiber stripes option, i was advised by my dealer that those aren't really quite nice "live", they are stickers after all, he says that are very noticeable, i guess, because of the thickness?

This is the paint config i went for, polar white with painted noseband and stripe in black:

(ordered in November and still waiting...)

Very nice. Have they given you an idea when it will be delivered?

Middle picture looks more like (Porsche) Mexico Blue to me.

It's seriously impossible to photograph! If you google Porsche Miami Blue you'll find it appears as lots of different colours because of the way it photographs ... but in the flesh it looks great, Porsche don't often get a colour wrong.

Wot!? Well... what can I say? Congrats!

Ah, I've just spotted you're in Spain. I assume ordering a 485 means a longer wait?

They don't get it wrong often, but they can get it spectacularly wrong. Case in point: Lime Gold Metallic. Apologies for dragging this thread a bit offtopic by the way.

The other Porsche colour that looks amazing on a Caterham is Porsche Birch Green, I thinki because it contrasts so well with the black. I had originally decided to do my car in this colour, but only recently changed my mind to Liquid Yellow.

On a Seven:

Nice, but the Renault yellow will be another level.

Yellow is definitely my favourite colour on a Seven after Gulf Blue (which of course is another classic Porsche colour).

Isn't Liquid Yellow very dependent on the use of a special (light coloured?) undercoat to get it at its best?

Saw it on a Renault at Silverstone yesterday and thought it would look fantastic on a caterham!

Thanks James, you could well be right, I’ll have to ask about that nearer the time. I’ve not had to commit to the respray colour yet so haven’t discussed any such issues with them.
