Apologies if it’s been covered before, but any recommendations for suspension setup in the East Midlands?

My car is relatively new but oh so skittish over bumps and camber changes.

My old car was much more settled so I can only assume a setup issue.

Speak to Graham at https://www.midlandraceandrally.com/

He looks after, and set up, my race car and has set up a couple of other Caterhams for the road.

Knows his stuff, old school, wont charge the earth. Good guy. Near Uttoxeter.

There are loads of very skilled people who can set a car up for your particular need, be it road, track, or a mixture, just depends where you are in the country. All of these listed below have websites.

DPR Motorsport - Redhill
PGM, Partridge Green Motorsport - Horsham
Northampton Motorsport - Northampton
McMillan Motorsport - Hinckley
TeamLeos - Ely
Gemzoemotorsport - Wakefield

All will do an excellent job for you.

I've got a call in to Centre Gravity who seem to the boys on this sort of thing, and are fairly local to me.

See how that goes

They want it for a whole day, if it sorts the car it's money very well spent I reckon.

CG are brilliant at Porche set ups, but Caterhams?, do they really understand the nuances of them?, or just a generic set up?

I know they do a lot of Porsche now, but I thought the business was originally mainly Caterham?

I've had 7s since the late 80s and live within 10 miles of CG, and until you said you were using them it was first time I heard their name and Caterhams in the same sentence.

That said, I was there as a friend had his 996 set up, and the driveability of the car was greatly improved by the whole exercise, and he was very pleased with the results.

I'm sure they'll be able to complete a generic setup/corner weighting, and the car will be improved, it's just that there are other Caterham specialists who understand the cars very well, and can translate your individual driving requirements into a set up that works for you and takes into account the nuances of the spring/shocker/arb installed on your car.

I'll be genuinely interested how it goes, and by the way the tea and biscuits are good!

+1 sorted my Caterham steering from ridiculously twitchy to firmer and able to keep on my side of the road at faster speeds.... Had it for a day or so and was very reasonably priced.

Would have been seriously worth knowing, when I lived in Uttoxeter! Fair enough.

Just a follow up to this.

So the car went in to Centre Gravity and I collected Saturday.

Wow, what a differeance, it's astonishing, it feels like a different car.

It's stable, predictable, way more compliant, not delfected by bumps or dips, realy inspires confidence now.

Steerinf feel is much better, it's so much more enjoyable.

This is my 3rd Caterham over 23 years and now drives so much better, I wish I'd done this years ago.
