I don't understand the negativity either, I don't think anyone that has been before had a crap time.
They haven't, well apart from a few the last year at Whittlebury Hall wink

But it has been remarked that

It's cliquey - mostly by those that haven't been, because we all know each other, not matter how welcoming we are frown
It's seen as 'posh' threads like 'what watch are you wearing' don't help!
It's expensive - it always has been - £150 for 2 + £120 for the room
The free drinks the last year were a piss take - house wine that was awful! (Well the white was!) or tap lager/bitter, not reaching your audience
The 'posh' reputation isn't being helped this year by venison pie wink
There's been some that were upset by people claiming raffle prises they didn't win

There's more stuff in here

Let's be honest, the only reason last year's failed was because it was forgotten about until too late, ny which time people had assumed it wasn't happening and made other plans.

There were an awful lot of people that booked their hotel room for Nov 2013... the day after BTaP 2012! Me being one of them.

This latest one has also suddenly come out of the blue and people have other things arranged. I believe the date has been forced by the hotel... use it or lose it type of thing.

In ten years I have never had a bad BTaP.

Same story here.

We booked the day after BTaP 2012 for 2013.

We weren't expecting anything in April, so already have plans.

As Burriana says - never had a bad one. In fact, 2012 was great.

I was trying to say that it's not exclusive, or cliquey, or for heavy drinkers, or for those with fancy cars, or the Le Mans goers, or the PhN tourers or the Euro Hooners.

It's for everyone smile

We've just been talking about this fact. We always have a great time, Bottle of bubbles and some Gin before we leave the room and don't care too much about the quality of the free booze at the bar wink

So I think we are going to say stuff it, eat mushroom pie instead and go have a good time.

I contributed to the earlier thread that Ali has linked to and don't intend to repeat myself again on that front. However, as I alluded to, a lot of groups of PH friends, for whatever reasons, have now grouped to do their own posh meals on their terms. Our jaunt to Middlethorpe Hall is testament to that, similar money to BTaP but with, dare I say it, far better catering, drinks and service. A lot of that is possibly down to the difficulty any establishment will have catering for a group of that size I fully accept.

Putting it bluntly, to me BTaP is a £500 night but doesn't feel like it is. It feels like a work Christmas party, only with decent PH folk and banter.

Perfectly fine with the price... it's never a cheap night, but friends are priceless
Marginally disappointed there's no change of venue... but it won't put me off and it makes sense
Slightly more disappointed by the menu... but nowhere near enough to cancel
Everybody else not going... yep, that's enough for me to hold off on buying a ticket

It's looking like a recurring theme of short notice = not the critical mass = everyone else bails.

It'll be the first one I've missed since I started. frown

Well, actually, it probably won't, as I imagine it'll be cancelled at this rate... Double frown

You've missed it. Link was in the article that listed the menu.

I can assure you that the event will not be cancelled, ticket sales are going well and they can be bought from http://www.btaptickets.com/

Is there a list of how many and who Nathan? It would be nice to know who is going that we might know. It would be far more enjoyable for Louise if at least some of our friends that she knows we're going.

Normally there was a calendar post done, and you could add your name to that (which in turn brought the log under your name)?

And the logo under your name helped to advertise it - you could see who was going

And no one knows who is going

I know I'm not wasting £500+ to attend when I have no idea who is going to be there, only who isn't!

I made that mistake with a wedding when I only knew the 2 grooms; awful evening!!
