Am just about to move from London to the Peak District (30 minute commute to Sheffield) so am thinking of a VX220 or a Lotus Elise. One factor is likely to be resale value - how does the VX220 hold its value - does it compare well with the Elise in this respect or is it hampered by the badge? Also, have heard/read of discounts being available on new VXT's - does anyone have recent experience of what sort of discounts might be available.

Thanks in anticipation.

Might be worth asking your question here too.

That link isn't working at the mo - I assume its VX2220.org.uk

Anyway to try to answer your question. Yest there are deals to be had on VXt's. You should be able to get a grand or so off. Nearly new low mileages can be had for around £23K

I would guess the Lotus badge will ensure a slightly lesser degree of depriciation but you will have to pay throught the nose to get one first - higher price and no chance of discounts.

Of course with the 111R now out the lesser Lotuses models may depriciate more as the engines are crap!!!

If it was a choice between a VXT and a standard elise I would say there was no question that the VXT wins hands down from the point of power and reliability. however with the 111R it's a little closer with a equally powerful but less torqy more high revving engine and maybe slighty more focussed handling but you have to pay for it!

Of course the best solution (badge aside) would be a VXR (if you can get one)
