Hi,

I have just bought a 2013 Insignia Exclusive with the CD400 Infotainment system.

There is a USB port in the armrest, an the manual says the following devices can be connected: "USB drive"
It says for MP3 and USB devices should be in FAT 32 format, cluster size smaller of equal to 64kB, maximum of 1000 files.

I have formatted an 8MB USB to FAT32 and 64kB cluster size, loaded a couple of MP3 folders - nothing seems to happen when I press the CD/AUX button. Does anyone have experience of this or know how to get it to work?

The CD works with MP3 files in folders, the CD/AUX button seems to only play the CD, when removed but USB installed it just gives 'no CD installed', does not seem to go to an 'Aux' input.

Any advice appreciated as would prefer to use a USB rather than keep burning CDs.

Thanks. Nick.

Not sure if this helps but I recently bought an Insignia SRI without a USB port, but with an AUX port. I bought an Aux cable from Amazon to use with my I Phone and it seems to be fine using the AUX button through the CD400.

Cant really comment on your problem with the AUX port as I don't have one, but to answer the question, yes you can play music without burning CDs !

Thanks for the reply greenarrow,

Can I ask how you select the AUX input?

Mine has an AUX and USB port, the manual says when you select the CD/AUX button once or several times to activate the audio USB mode.
With a CD in it selects it OK, with no CD it just says no disc, it doesn't seem to select to USB. Makes me think there is something wrong with it.

Thanks.

Nick

Could I ask where the AUX port is?

Mine is in the center arm rest. Lift the lid and you see there is a plug inside the storage compartment.

Just checked. I can see where it goes but it is empty

I manager to get the USB working.

Just in case anyone else has a problem, it looks like arranging the files in folder such as artist / album / songs screwed it up.
Once it reads a bad file it just locks out the USB option from the CD/Aux selector.

If you just load all the songs on to the USB stick, it reads the artist, album and song details to give you option of sorting by each of the categories.
Still doesn't like too many files but does work!

P.S. Sorry Redleader, if you can see where the aux or USB should be but there not there I guess your model doesn't have the option.
