Received an e-mail today stating that all data services will be cancelled from January 1st 2021, including car telemetry and SOS assist etc, I thought the latter was a mandatory feature on all new vehicles so I wonder how PSA are going to get round that one with the EU? The obsoletion of Opel-Vauxhall begins......

It was inevitable that as part of the sale of Vauxhall/Opel to PSA from GM that On-Star, a GM owned company, would ultimately be withdrawn.

PSA will have to find their own solution. They'll have to have one anyway for their Peugeot/Citroen brands, so they'll just have to find a way to integrate that in to Vauxhall/Opel. I doubt very much that it will be able to be retrofitted to current On-Star equipped vehicles though.

There's no mention of the service stopping on the front page of the Vauxhall website. You have to scroll down to the bottom to find anything about On-Star, and then the notice is a throwaway line at the very bottom of the On-Star page, in the "Important information about OnStar services" and you have to click on "Learn More". Even after you've done all that, the only information about the service stopping is one line at the top. They are not exactly making the information easy to find. It's almost as if they are trying to trick customers in to selecting an option which will stop working in 19 months.
