New car, niggles appearing... 1.4 astra enjoy

I know a 1.4 astra isn't going g to set the world on fire in terms of performance... But it's spot on for my needs.

I've had my 05 plate Astra G for about a week and I've noticed I've got a car with a spanner icon that keeps popping up... And I've got a bit of a "shimmy" between 2000 and 3500 rpm. I've asked numerous of my car friends but I'm getting everything from EGR fault to "it's a vauxhall".

I'd appreciate some grown up responses
