Aux port fault - Vauxhall Astra J

Hi all,
I wonder if anyone could help.
I have a 2010 Vauxhall Astra J with a factory fitted USB and Aux port.
My aux port has worked fine the whole time I have had the car however i recently had the car cleaned and in doing so the aux cable was pulled out of the port. At the time I didn’t think anything of it and thought I would plug the cable back in when I get home. However I am now having issues inserting the cord into the aux port. I can insert my aux cord half way into the port but it will not go any further, almost as if something in the port is stopping the aux cord from going any further. I have tried looking and cannot see any obvious blockage.
Has anyone else had a similar issue or can anyone suggest any ways to remedy the problem?
