Vauxhall astra estate starting issues

Hi,
I have a 13 plate astra sports tourer 1.7diesel and for the past few weeks I've noticed intermittent starting issues. In that it sounds like it's firing up but seems to struggle to actually start. It keeps trying itself (I've stopped turning the key by this point) and eventually after a couple of attempts itself it gets there. Once it's started the clutch pedal feels like it's stuck down so I have to hook my foot underneath to pull it back up otherwise the car lurches forwards as soon as I try to move (or backwards if it's in reverse) and will then stall. Sometimes it really struggles and I have to stop and start all over again. Sometimes I get error messages on the dash but they're different everytime such as press clutch to start engine (it is depressed) or service esp among others.
This issue is intermittent and I have not been able to pin point any particular consistent situations when it does it? It can go days/weeks with no issues and then will have issues again? It's really confusing me!!
Anyone have any previous experiences or advice would be much appreciated before I go getting charged through the nose by a garage.. I'm struggling with taking it to a garage as well because I can't force it to replicate the issue...
