What's the weight difference between a stock 500 mustang and a GT + screw supercharger & it's accessories?

Hi m8

Any ideas on what they have done to save weight with the new version?

no not yet, am waiting to hear back from Saleen regarding this as 200lbs is a substantial saving in weight which I want to lose from mine!

They do have a new lightweight 20" wheel, I think its 5 spokes instead of 7, maybe the weight they advertise is with that wheel. As the 20" wheels on our cars I am led to believe are extremely heavy.

They look amazing but for me cause issue with traction in 1st and 2nd gear as heavier wheels make wheel spin more of a problem.

Also as its unsprung mass it has a great effect on performance. If yourself me myself were to fit some performance ultra lightweight 18" wheels to our cars then no doubt we'd see and feel a noticable performance improvement.

I may be wrong but I fail to see how it can be lighter than a stock GT. I have seen varying quoted weights and most of saleens sem to be "estimated" and there seems to be a bit of artistic licence in respect of whether they are quoting a dry weight or a weight inclusive of oil, fuel etc.

I've gone for GT500 wheels for mine. I'll have to change the 18" Bullitts (shame because they're lovely) as the GT500 brakes won't fit without 1" spacers

I'm really, tempted by the Vortech, but I'm 99% sure I'm going to go for the Roush. It's available polished, but actually, I think I prefer the black one?

Feel Free to post any of My Pics! Very Flattering!

As Far as the Black vs the Polished Blower I went with Polished Cause it was Different and I felt it would go Better with my Chrome Valve Covers. I would have gone with Black Wrinkle Paint Covers if I had used the Black Blower. As Far as why I chose Roush I felt since they Install These Blowers on cars they sell through Ford Dealers they better be confident that problems will be minimal as they offer Parts and Labor Warranty on their Units. My Ecu was tuned to 427r Specs which is plenty for me. I had a Lengthy Conversation with a FORD RACING EXECUTIVE last Year and from what I gleaned Many of the Power Levels people are running out there are really pushing their Luck as far as bottom end durability. Of course a really abusive driver may grenade a stock engine and a more thoughtful driver may be able to get reliabilty out of a 500 hp 4.6L 3v. Time Will tell! In the Mean time being conservative can be rewarding for the long haul!

Thanks,

KC
