Why does that ring a bell, was it a blue Boss featured in Classic and Sportscar magazine pitted against a 1971 455HO Trans Am?

I think I have that magazine in my loft somewhere (I used to own an identical Trans Am!)

I have driven a yellow 71 Boss 351 4-speed (well, they were all 4 speeds anyway) totally nuts car! About 8 years ago in East London, the guy was lucky to get 7 grand for it and we thought he did well....!

I also know a guy around Basingstoke way who has a green Boss 351 though I think it's been laid up for years...

To my knowledge the '71 Boss was a car that few people knew existed and was pretty unappreciated for a long time though like any Mustang I'd imagine they're all the money now!

Saw your profile, re: the Trans Am

The picture was taken local to me, perhaps we should replicate it with our current rides ;-)

Wasn't the location in Hertfordshire somewhere? As I recall the cars were parked on a railway crossing. I haven't been up in the loft to find the magazine yet.

Malc is indeed right. Two other bosses I'm aware of were the yellow gear driven, as apposed to timing chain driven, Boss that once belonged to Graham Barrs, the then President of the MOCGB. Not sure if he still is ? I might be wrong but the last I heard it went to an owner in Hertfordshire.
Then there was the medium blue Boss351 that was once for sale at the American car garage on Gold Hawk Road, West London. I nearly bought it, I had the money in my pocket and went and looked at the car but once I viewed it I decided to go and have a drink down the road at a pub on the corner to think about the deal. For some reason I walked away, I think it was because I doubted the authenticity of the car.

The yellow 351 Boss you are talking about was mine for a few years yes it was fitted with a jackson gear drive,it had beeen off the road for a few years before i found it tucked away in a council lock up it had a real bad crack in one of the heads,i did a full engine build on it then i got fed up with it as its not my favorite shape so i sold it it then got sold on again to a bloke that now has a pair of them both yellow
