To date have covered about 3.5k miles (in 8 weeks!!) in the 440. It's mainly been on big fast roads - down to Le Mans the day after I picked it up, etc so haven't had the opportunity to push it much. It's very big compared to the other TVRs but incredibly comfortable and a pleasure to drive. 'Daft Lad' took it round the track at Alford, his grin suggested he was happy with it's performance and he beat 2 GT3s, a lambo, a ferrari and a sagaris although the sagaris was just a smidge behind. I took the Sagaris round the 'ring a couple of times and it was superb, particularly in the Karoussel. I hope to take the 440 over next year so will beable to give a better comparison on the handling then.

Thanks Jane, looking forward to hearing how it goes. I did originally have a T440/Typhon on order, but ended up changing to a Sagaris as didn't look as if production was going to materialise. Must be nice owning and driving such a unique TVR

Wow! How on earth did you get hold of the typhon/t440r shown here. I have to say both cars are stunning to my eyes and it was my fantasy to trade the Sagaris in for a Typhon in a few years time. I know that's not happening now but I'd be fascinated to know more about what they are like to drive. Are they both 4.2 440bhp speed sixes?

Hi Pits: long story, but I chased for the Smolenski Typhon, which has now been sold, (pissed me right off!!), the Orange Supercharged Six Speed Sequential gearboxed Typhon, no feedback other than that TVR had not made their minds up about what to do with it, and the car we bought, the LNT Racing T440R.

I've driven the car a few times, but honestly still far prefer the Sagaris: they are very different cars, built for different purposes.
You know the story with the Sagaris: the T440R has bags more power, (with the 4.2 L straight six), and is effortless in acceleration. Top whack is written as 215, but I suspect quite a bit more would be available - but where to find out!!!

That will depend on where you buy it from I suppose but the answer is relatively unimportant; Peter Wheeler sold the grey one to Lawrence Tomlinson (as well as a few race cars) and that was the only t4xx car for quite a while. Nik has recently produced a handful of others at a 'very reasonable' price.

Both were given to well respected TVR customers. The next batch of 60 is likely to be sold at a different price altogether.

Have you got the raw figures because I have never seen it advertised on tvr website. I am looking to get a second hand tuscan for about 15-20k and was wondering if it could be upgraded to the typhon spec.

I knew LNT had a titanium one but I never imagined he would part with it. But now he's in bed with panoz and is going to be importing them (fast but dog ugly mind, despite the class Le Mans win)

Lucky you RPA, it's the car that's been my screensaver for quite a while...

stunning car and one I hoped to own one day.

do let me know if you ever want to sell it!

You could reuse the steering wheel, horn, tvr wheel centres, valve caps and possibly 18" spider wheels. The new chassis, body, interior, engine etc could add up though

Raw figures, I'd guess at about 80k (but that is a complete guess). The Tuscan looks vaguely similar, in the same way a Boxster looks like a 997.

If you want a Typhon, I'm afraid you'll have to wait to the 60 cars are released, and pay through the nose for one!

Seen a couple of Typhons on show but may have been the same car also seen a T440 at the cerbera event at Elvington , all absolutely stunning cars . Bought a copy of EVO today not too sure i like the look of these Typhoon things CAD designed and they look a bit Origami although they are just computer generated images on show at the minute , IMHO the Typhon T440R are a much better looking car .

Paul, I totally agree with you. After 9 months of owning a Typhon, I certainly would not swap it for the newer version. There is no doubt that the existing chassis can handle the extra power (as the Le Mans experience proved) and that is my only disappointment. I'd go a stage further and say that a Typhon is the most stable TVR on the road today especially at higher speeds. Richard already has a T440 (as per this thread) and now the second Typhon, so he will be able to confirm or deny this view.

The 'new TVR' say they can sell 60 Typhoons, but nobody seems to have considered who will service and/or repair them. I've already had one embarrassing breakdown that required the car to go back to Blackpool on the back of a transporter (to date that has been the only option open to me). Heath and Paul in the Service Centre have done a really good job looking after my car but when it had its 1,000 mile service, it still took them over 2 hours to get the front off the car before they could work on the engine! Needless to say I have no idea what will happen in the future.

How much effort would it have been for TVR to write to its customers in an attempt to maintain an on-going dialogue with them over future plans and development (even for future sales)? I suspect the truth is that the new management really don't care about UK owners as they see their market in foreign fields. The UK dealer network looks shot to me (no disrespect to the guys who look after the cars) and that is hardly surprising as they don't really have many business reasons right now to be enthusiastic about what is going on.

No doubt there are 'new' customers out there who will pay the reported asking price of £120k for a Typhoon but I can't see too many arriving in the UK unless those buyers fancy an expensive punt! Let's hope I am wrong.

Hi John, agree with you re the new "T-whatever-it-is" - don't like the look of it at all. I had heard a lot about it, and was all hyped up to have a look, but having taken receipt of the Typhon cannot see beyond it!!

I do think that if 30 or 40 Typhons had ben produced that they would have sold with ease. As with the Sagaris, you only need to get in one and drive for a few minutes to appreciate the class of the vehicle.
Please do not ask me which one I prefer!!

rpa, just out of interest, how much would you part with your Typhon for, and is yours the only one kicking about. I was sure yours was the only one, but on the TVR thread there appears to be a metallic red one.

Hi, I wouldn't part with the Typhon, much as I probably won't part with the Sagaris or Chimaera: I just like them too much!! And there is not a hope Jane will part with the Cerb or the T440R!!
There are only two "proper" Typhons being TQ3's and this one. The other two cars are our T440R, in rebuild with LNT, and the aforementioned orange one, which is still to the best of my knowledge in the factory in bits. Check out a couple of the other threads on this forum - there is quite a bit of info on the "Typhon Pics" thread and others.

Hey

I have managed to lay my hands on a nice TVR plate.

Its TYP60N.

Seeing as this is a distant dream for me to buy the car I think I shall get rid of the plate.

Does anyone know anyone who would like it or the best place to sell it?

Just got back from the North West of Scotland on Sunday. Sat in Sommerfield car park in Ullapool and what did I hear but two TVRs. Pale blue Tuscan followed by a T440 / Typhon(?) Music to my ears, my T350T was at home in the garage unfortunately, won't tow my RIB.
Terrific to see and hear them, bet you enjoyed the roads, best in the UK in my humble opinion!!!!

Hi Mark

Just noticed this. That was Jane Parker's Typhon and my Tuscan S. We had a great run across from Strathpeffer that morning. The Typhon looks awesome in the rearview mirror. Sounds great as well
