I'm buying this game hoping it will be the first true "interactive film" I play, eg get lost enough in the story to not really notice the gameplay, if that makes sense.

I never finished the original bioshock, but it certainly had a beautiful story.

Did anyone else manage to turn practically the entire city on them at the earliest opportunity? hehe

You mean by throwing the #77 ball at the announcer rather than the interracial couple? It seemed like the right thing to do. I do wander if it would have stayed all 'nice' a little longer if I hadn't.

I've got a Steam code for it as part of that same offer, I got mine from GetGames so it's not tied to my account yet. If anyone wants the code for the original they're welcome to have it, got a copy on the Xbox, so it's the one bonus that I don't really need.
I've never played Bioshock, its never really been on my radar, what is it like?

Yup hehe

I assumed that it would all kick-off either way due to the mark on your hand, but thought it might buy a bit more time if you didn't cause a scene. I'll have to test that one next playthrough.

Yes, I also assumed it would probably kick off either way; it just had that feel to it. I suspect that, regardless of the target, the act of throwing the ball and showing the brand on the hand would have had the same outcome.

Anyone else beginning to feel that Dishonored was Bioshock 2.5, what with the branded back of the hand, and the 'mystical st in one hand and a weapon in the other' just like the three Bioshocks?

Spoiler guys, same thing happens whatever you choose which is a little lame.

What a fantastic game though, really, really enjoying it on ps3. The way it looks on PC is insane!

So stick that inside a 'spoiler' tag like we've been doing. rolleyes

If you're not sure how, just quote one of our posts and you'll see.

Not sure if you'd have played any of them, but it's quite close to the System Shock games (which the devs were involved with anyway) you don't play it for the combat, as it's not got that finely-honed balance you get with CoD or Halo, but the world and story suck you in, plus there's a Deus Ex style drive to get more upgrades and make yourself even more powerful.

I don't think there's any need to play the first or second game before playing Infinite, but you're missing out on one of the gems of this generation if you don't.

Looking at the trailer, looks a different game to the first two. I think the first two are worth it (my opinion), should be cheap now as well. Bit different setting traps and dealing with sisters, hacking bots and so on, mind you, bit of satisfaction giving something a bit of free dentistry with three foot mining drill.

The website they setup a few years ago with the investigation into the missing kids was fascinating. The first game was fun on the Xbox, the story was great. Tempted to get this on Steam.

Never played a Bioshock game, not a huge fan of futuristic stuff.

It does sound very good though, and i have a lovely new Nvidia GTX Superclocked TITAN arriving tomorrow so should be able to get it on the PC.

I havent even explored the additional content for Skyrim, not enough time for all the good games.

Although, in fairness, it is retro-futuristic. Much in the same way as Fallout3 is.

Ordered last night as the OH is a massive BioShock fan. I've never played them at all nor know much about them, she showed me the trailer months and months ago and it looked good, so it's on order to play over the Easter weekends.

Should really get round to finishing Far Cry though!

True, great word, retro-futuristic.

I need to go and finish AC3 before I buy this, although all this talk is making me want this game. I have the day off tomorrow. Maybe I can finish AC3 tomorrow biggrin

I can't claim ownership of it, I'm afraid - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retro-futurism

I'm very much into it though, which is why I have loved all the Bioshock games, the Fallout games, Dishonored, etc. Very much my thing.

I was thoroughly enjoying the beginning, the visual wealth* of it, the whole atmosphere and joy of it. Then the fighting started and I though "oh yeah, I forgot it was a combat game" and a little bit of the magic died and there was a sense of 'innocence lost'. That was quite special actually.

(* - yes, I know the graphics themselves are typical Unreal Engine fare, much like Dishonored, so are not stunning per se, but there is a real richness and atmosphere)

I agree. The game looses some magic once the fighting begins. But I still managed to play for 3 hours last night that only felt like half that time. Looking forward to tonight.
Playing on the Xbox looks stunning enough. Only one very small update to download on installing.

I'll have to give it a crack. Time to be cheeky and ask if you still have a spare copy? Do you want anything for it?
