Yeah, I'll chuck a few quid in for the cost of a server if needed too. Seems to be about a £1/month per slot. So a 24-player is about £24/month.

How would you work it though? Only those who have paid can log in? No "friends-of-payees" ?

Haven't really thought that far down the line, but I wouldn't want it to be too restrictive otherwise we could find it empty. Free for all but a preference for PHers/ kick for 'members' policy. On our Friday night get togethers I can normally count 16 or so PHers floating around 3 or 4 servers, so be good to get them on and stil leave room for the odd mate smile

Would be better to find out who owns/is paying for the current one and chuck a few quid their way and be added to the admin list.

I would be keen to help out as well. I often wondered why we cant get everyone toghter on an empty server instead of all spread between a few different ones. Im not on much on Friday or Saturday nights normally though.

I don't mind chipping in for the server.

Generally join whichever server everyone else is on and try inviting other people in between maps.

Yeah i'd be happy to chuck some money at the server idea. I reckon theres no real need to use the exisitng one if we can't find who owns it We can just set up a PH2 server or something.
As for who can use it, i think the idea of having it relatively open but kick for members/clan is a good idea.

Really? I hate that, well for the air stuff. Shoot down their chopper, by the time youve landed and repped, or pushed forward on the offence and their chopper is back at you. Drives me nuts.

I'm with you on that. I think the helicopters and jets are hard enough to deal with just now when a good pilot gets into the seat without shooting it down for them to instantly respawn in it and start all over again.

I struggle to take down the air vehicle much more since the patch and think they have perhaps made them a bit too overpowered now.

The reasoning behind finding the owner of the original server is that someone somewhere is already paying, so would be sensible to give them some dollar than paying twice for a PH server.

Anyway, I've never done this server hosting lark. Went onto the BF3 website and they have 4 recommended service providers in the UK (although Low Ping actually appears to be a US provider),

LowPing
Gaming Deluxe
KillerCreation
Rackage

Of those Rackage seems to be coming out the cheapest for a 40 slot server @ £27.20 pm or 24.34 if we buy 3 months at a time.

Free 10 voice slots and free debranding, whatever that is?

Thoughts and suggestions on a virtual postcard please smile

I'll happily chip in £5 a month chasing you guys around servers is quite frustrating. I don't mind being an admin but I wouldn't know how to do it. (check for cheats etc.)

Nice bit of anti-helicopter RPG use...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dS4O2vaH6k8&fea...

I was wondering just how many RPGs they've fired that have missed in order to make that montage- looked them up on BF3 Stats and they have 900odd kills with both RPG/SMAW and still have a 60%-ish accuracy with them!! yikes

I was fairly handy at it on BC2 but I can only recall getting 1 rpg/heli kill on BF3. Looking at that montage he is really giving it a big lead, more than I imagined. Going to have to have another go at it smile

Glad I'm not the only one, that's tonight's BF3 session sorted! hehe

I've only recently taken out my first one on BF3, although the heli was hovering stationary, capping a flag. About 2 meters off of the ground.

3Sixty is pretty good at it, the last few times I've been in his squad he's taken out several helis with rpgs (even if it was only disabling them in the last one)- this was partly what inspired my youtube search to see if I had missed something, I remember doing it a lot on previous games in the series.

Oddly enough though I've managed to take out 2 low flying jets with RPGs. Although with the current trend of JET PILOTS attempting to RUN ME OVER this was suprisingly straight-forward!

I can't really explain how much to fire ahead, its just a knack and experience

Probably helped that I played TFC for about 10years as soldier so my rocket prediction is pretty good! Only differencewith BF3 is that the rockets drop, so had to learn that bit

i was thinking exactly that... the period when you're safe is nice. but gaving a instant vehicle spawn makes it easy to get the vegicle you want. e.g.
o can stop one person hogging the chopper by getting it as soon as they die.
