Just having a mess around this morning as got the day off. The AS VAL is awesome! Never used it before but was getting constant headshots
One of my favourite guns.

Only problem I find is that I can really only use this when playing as Support.....because I eat through the ammo so quickly.
Yeah, I found this. Foob said there is extended mag though, so going to try unlock it

Makes little difference.

The clip size isn't the problem I find........it's amount of ammo you get (even with Squad ammo perk). I find myself running out of ammo if I'm alive for more than 1 minute.

This is only a 'problem' because no one else on pub servers seem to drop ammo.

It is a brilliant gun though.

yes

I descovered it last week and I've racked up my first service star with it in no time, great fun to use! But yes as with Spiritual I generally only use it with support as it does seem to tank through the ammo somewhat... I also need to unlock the extended mag for it asap.

Given that two of my top 3 guns are the SCAR-H and G3A3, both of which also only come with 20-round magazines, I really have no idea how I suddenly develope such an itchy trigger finger when I equip the VAL! hehe

How do you not get killed in 20 seconds? Do you not have the big neon sign above you?

For a laugh you should try the AS VAL (no extended mags), with the G18-Supressed as backup... Using this setup I have found it entirely possible to run out of ammo completely over the course of killing 3-4 people! shoot

Hillarious fun though- silent fully auto death has never been such a laugh hehe

I really want to unlock the G3. I like the Scar-H when playing as Engy. The extra damage it does it quite useful.

But I never really played co-op, so I have loads of points to go until i unlock it. I could just buy the weapon pack from origin, but since that is the only gun I would unlock (since I have the rest) I'm struggling to see the point.

Bar a level or two, I thought the coop missions were actually pretty good fun. They're definitely worth checking out, and the points roll in pretty quickly, especially since they lowered the required amount of points a while ago.

It's worth it for the G3 as alone imo, it's 30% more powerful than anything else you can use as assault.

If I'm about later tonight, I'll blast a couple of coop levels with you, if you're stuck. thumbup

What's co-op about? I really ought to read the manual. hehe

I've been playing campaign mode. It's a bit frustrating. The enemy seems to know exactly where you are even if you're hiding and not moving. And you can't go past certain points unless it allows you - I ran into an invisible barrier and got killed trying to push through it. Also got killed by an RPG in the dark. "LOOK OUT!" a computer character shouts. Look where???

Those co-op points unlock in no time, you get so many kills and points from other things per level that you get it pretty quickly- and as Fabric says they are all good fun to play through too. The last but one level can be a bit tricky on higher difficulties if not using comms / sat in the same room as your team-mate, as it requires a fair bit of synchronised shooting, but it's damn good fun!

And yes the G3A3 is brilliant, it's just so versitile- you can leave it on single shot, bang a rifle scope on it and use it as a high capacity semi auto sniper rifle, or as I tend to use it mostly- equip a reflex scope & heavy barrel and leave it on auto, and you can burst fire anyone at pretty much any range (the standard maps arn't big enough to really require a powerful scope) with pinpoint accuracy- 2 bursts dropping most people. I also normally rock a bi-pod for those extra long range counter-sniper shots as the foregrip I find is useless on the G3A3 anyway.

Up close firing full-auto the recoil can be a pain, coupled with the slow rate of fire leads to some frustrating one-on-ones, but if you can maintain your cool (I often can't!) and fire aimed controlled bursts then the extra damage will easily see you through. I just pair it with the crazy G18-supressed for such occasions!

It's easily my most enjoyable rifle to use biggrin

I love the M416, over 1100 kills, but I haven't used it since probably December and I don't want to as I'm afraid of what they might have done to my baby with all these patches.

I'm trying to get 100 kills with all guns and despite not really liking recon the class I'm actually really dreading is support because the guns are extremely inaccurate which combined with my own shooting skills, or lack there of, is a disaster waiting to happen.

The M416 is probably now the best Assault gun....and so overused (every other Assault kit seems to be using it smile )

The Support MG's are actually pretty darn accurate. If you can set up with Bipod...full auto can mow down rows of enemies no problem. But, be more gentle with your trigger finger, and 1-2 shots bursts are actually extremely accurate...even when not using bipod.

Cheers for the Co-Op help offers guys. Might take you up on that later, as I do really want that G3.

I also want to see what the L86A3 is like too, as that looks like it really suits my playstyle. Currently the AUG is the gun getting the most use. So if any of you fancy some Squad Team Deathmatch as well, I could probably do with the help biggrin

Not necessarily. You just can't run and gun with them (effectively). Use them as they were designed, flip out your bipod (oooh matron), then cover an alleyway/choke point (Metro and Bazaar are good for this) and watch the body count roll in. The first (and second) time you unleash 400 rounds (with ext mag) at a doorway with 5 enemy charging through, and watch the last one trip over his comrade's bodies as you send out another 30 beads of death to rip his body apart (I should write some war novels lol) you will muhahahahaha to yourself.hehe

What they lack in accuracy is balanced by magazine size.

Im probably 75% way through all unlocks for all guns so yes Ive had to spend some time with support guns (of which I have completed all unlocks for). The sniper rifles (specifically the semis fnaar) are the real ball aches

Not sure what you mean? Just strafe and hide!

For those talking about Co-op, I've never done any of the missions so I would be up for trying them out.
