That was unlucky. As you left the server I saw him running through the woods so I managed to take him down and loot him. With the proceeds we bought a chopper which rather unsuprisingly ended up in a ball of flames...again. Nothing to do with Graham this time though, I did it all by myself. hehe

I need to do some more looting to replace the chopper and actually learn to fly it.

DayZ is an itch i've been wanting to scratch for a fair time now. Was going to get a good gaming pc but I just don't have enough space for one at the moment. Girlfriend has bought me a Toshiba satellite S70-B-10U, long shot but will that be able to play it?

no idea on PC spec i'm afraid. mines a 3.5-4Ghz self build.

Sorry you got left with broken legs for ages Ian, I couldn't hear a word of what was going on last night. Way too many people on that TS for me to hear so I had it turned right down.

Finally heard you say stary trader just as I was flying over to get Rob!

No worries, I actually got the guy who shot us down to come out and give me blood and morphine.

If you right click in TS you can create your own channel if you are doing different stuff to other people and you want some quiet.

I started recording some of our play last night as it can be quite funny. I have put a few videos up if anyone is interested. Freaking the newbies out at Klen trader is very funny.

I've just got a decent gaming rig and having watched a lot of YouTube videos on dayz it will be one of my first buys.

Just wondering having never played it before, is it worth getting the standalone or the mod?

Standalone - lots of extra mods that are very cool.
Takes a little more to get them all running but 3rd party launchers make it far simpler now.

In the old days, everything was manual and a right pain.

On another note, I picked up some of these last week - farkin' hell! Another level of immersion.

do you mean standalone or mod. I'd say right now... Mod is the better. Had a few days off but having much more fun. Standalone has a much easier menu system and the graphics are marginally better but other than that, for actual fun. The overpoch mod is best.

Standalone will be better. Right now though its too much of a faff. I spent hours just trying to not get wet so that I wouldnt freeze to death.

Yeah that's what I meant - looking a vids and reviews the Mod (i.e Arma 2) does seem better at the moment (lots more stuff to do etc), just wondered as a new player if I stood a better chance only playing the standalone.

I haven't got the standalone but I am very confident that the mod is a lot more fun. The clips I posted on YouTube were from one afternoon and evening of play. Overpoch is an absolute blast.

I had the standalone before epoch, and without a shadow of a doubt the arma 2 mods are far better. I am beginning to doubt the stand alone will even get close to it. Yes it's easier to get guns but the balance is still good which means it's all most as hard to stay alive, and for myself getting decent loot is half of what makes it fun.

Hi Rob and Graham wavey good to see you last night. I'm still loving Overpoch but I play quite differently now. I don't have a base at all just hidden safes. I am a proper bandit now and have quite a big group on my TS sometimes but we like to keep the server guessing who is in it.

Hello mate, Yeah was a bit random!

We are largely the same. like you, did the whole big castle base thing (Rog though). Just don't have the time or effort that it takes to maintain. We have a small Barn blocked off and that's about it.

Normally 5 of us online but have a few stragglers.

We are being blighted by a bunch of guys atm. They seem to be online 24/7 and spend 24/7 camping with snipers on both our doors. Yesterday they took it to a new low and glitched/hacked inside our base which was fun. Their Base is the one just east of Novy on the main road, huge tower specifically built to fk ours. I'm game for a bit of bandit fun but they've taken it to a whole new level. Very frustrating and kinda taking the fun out of it for us atm.

TurboHamster and Toxicavenger and Camoman are the main culprits. Shoot on sight dude!

Hey Derek. Good to see you and skull on the server yesterday. smile

We're living a bandit life too but as Graham says, we are blighted by these guys anytime we pop on the server. They are online pretty much all day long so have got mega rich on missions and when we come online they're either sniping our base from theirs (they built a tower specifically for us....), camping our base or glitch inside of it hoping to catch us with an open safe.

We plan to smash their barn down and destroy the plot pole which we're pretty certain is hidden inside a wall of the barn. If you fancy lending a hand we'd be eternally grateful.

Sorry we killed a few of you but we did a fair bit of damage to them and Skullfux is going to camp them forever. We will keep going back there.

When you can get to your safes I would move out if I were you despite whatever we do to them.

Hello mate,

Thanks for the help last night. Certainly owe you one.

No worries on the few 'casualties'. They deserved it, we told them where you were and what you were doing. If they walk around like planks... what do you expect! Plan is certainly to move. Just no point in having constant hassle.

We didn't do much tonight but Skull machine gunned his way back into their base and is currently logged out inside it. biggrin
