Cautionary note, went to Felicity Farseer to muck about with engineering and got hit by a pirate band who, as soon as I launched wiped me out (running my Cobra for that job)
It was after they had ‘noted my arrival’ does that indicate the wrong faction based on my ‘hostile’ indicator?
I went back there expecting trouble again and wasn’t disappointed but my Cobra is pretty quick so was able to buzz off tootsweet
Playing in Open? Deciat attracts gankers in bulk. Are you pledged to any powerplay faction or have wanted status? It was after they had ‘noted my arrival’ does that indicate the wrong faction based on my ‘hostile’ indicator?

Always exciting to visit Deciat or Shinrata systems in open play, although I jump into Solo or the Mobius PVE private group if I don't want to be disturbed.
Sucker for punishment, me. I always play in open play and having never been aligned to a faction decided, on the advice of one of those myriad Youtube vids to do so, he said if you arent you must be mad sort of thing. So I thought why not and now seem to attract a bit more unwanted attention ...

Admirable, I do find open leads to more memorable moments and apart from Deciat and Shinrata they're mostly positive. The only reason to align to a faction (apart from baroque system control Background Simulation (BGS) is to unlock the powerplay modules. I've only done Prismatic shields so far but it's pretty boring tbh. Each one takes four weeks. At some point I'll try to unlock Packhound missiles and FSD missiles. Most of the other Powerplay modules don't seem to be worth the effort.

o7 it was certainly invaluable in Borann.Although it's kinda bizarre that players are obliged to run and administer PVE groups with tens of thousands of registered commanders because Frontier won't implement a PVP flag. Then you'd not need to split the playerbase at all.
Or *gasp* balance PVP & PVE properly.
Well I may bin my alignment then, prefer to be under the radar and on my own as it were.
When you unlock the Guardian FSD booster, if you have 2 ships can you put it on both as I can't find where in outfitting it is or even if it is applied to my trusty Cobra
When I unlocked the G shield booster, I had to hunt for youtube vids for one to tell me it was in Hull reinforcement modules as I would have been wandering round till I stumbled on it...

It'll be under optional internal, at your nearest Guardian tech broker. Sadly, it's one unlock per blueprint - although you can transfer the same unit to different ships, slot size permitting. You'll be really familiar with Synuefe NL-N c23-4 in a while, don't worry.

Been there twice already...
I forgot an SRV the first time I went, if it's any consolation. One of the (many!) things I wish I'd known when I initially started looking into Guardian stuff, is that you can log in and out to reset the area. So do a full run, collect all the drops from the towers and panels, then hit the beacons and grab the blueprint - move your ship a couple of miles away from the Guardian area, re-log, then repeat.
After a bit of practice you'll be able to grab a few blueprints per hour, and a good inventory of Guardian tech ingredients - which should stave off having to re-visit for a while.
Yep, picked that up with thanks to the 'Tube'
Also, park the SRV in the middle of several obelisks and do the same for all the Alpha Gamma Epsilon stuff. Was a godsend
I found that parking my ship at the head of the structure (terrain permitting) saved me time especially if the little wasps appear at the end and you need to get away quick.
That and if you outfit your ship with self defence turrets to defend against the wasps missile attacks, a Cobra is not the ship to have. Both are fitted on the bottom! Doh!
Also, I ended up taking two SRVs so I could swap over if one took a hammering. Save me getting into orbit finding a suitable carrier and docking for repairs.

I did Guardians pre-carrier where you had to fly 200LY to the nearest station.Edited by Oilchange on Friday 6th November 10:01
I also didn't realised you can synthesise SRV fuel and repairs right there in the spot.
Tbh the only 2 guardian things that are really worth the effort are Guardian FSD booster and the Gauss Cannon.

Gauss cannon? I thought it was the shield booster.
Not so much, You can use the Guardian shield booster on some builds but the regular shield boosters that go into utility slots are far more powerful. Also the internal slots used by guardian shield boosters can contrain shield cell banks or hull/module reinforcements that can themselves be engineered to be more useful.
I mean they're nice to have and I've unlocked a lot of them, but I only really make use of those two Guardian techs.
Higher number that fits your ship will be the best (power and range), and the letter corresponds to quality and mass.
Find your ship on here, select it and then click on the FSD it will show you the options that fit your ship and if you check the jump distances at the top what each one can do.

Had my first Thargoid encounter last night, face to face with an Interceptor in an unarmed DBX. Fortunately it didn't attack, and the only damage was to my underwear - but it was cool to see.
Getting a bit bored of mining at the moment, and my carrier upkeep should be covered for the next couple of years - so tempted to try a few anti Xeno builds. Any recommendations?
