technique - sprint past all of the 'ghost' Vaas's, using medical syringes to stay alive. its not far until you get to the real Vass on a podium, then its easy.
that didn't work for me. My sprint key doesn't seem to work in dream sequences. I suspect there is a bug where the keyboard re-mappings revert. I wouldn't be surprised. Anyway, the technique I used was to push forward whilst firing, then fall back to reload. A case of "3 steps forward and 2 steps back". You get there in the end but it is tedious and time-consuming.
What I did was aim at the head of the ghost Vaas' and fire in short bursts. I believe I only needed to reload once and I got to the real Vaas in less than a minute. This is how I did it after I died a few times trying!

Just got off the first island. Whoever wrote the story needs to be whipped with a length of electrical flex with a plug attached! So much promise but has been totally bungled. Thankfully the gameplay is enjoyable.

Well, sprinting didn't work for me (PS3) but managed to evade all the Vaas' and get to the real one pretty easily eventually!

Whichever way you look at it, it was st. At least with Hoyt you come back to reality and everyone is dead and there are bloody footprints everywhere. At least that gives you some idea that you went into a killing fuge or something. But with Vaas... nothing. He just never gets mentioned again.

And I still say that there should have been some kind of Fight Club thing with Vaas

I thought that's exactly what way the sorry was going especially when you are told " You are me".

Wow.

Bought this on steam because I thought it would be easier keeping everything in steam.

But no, the download then installs ubisofts Uplay, I have to create yet another portal account and ffs it wont even let me use my name. And now I need uplay AND steam running to play one damned game? FFS.

I had this game for Christmas and I really like it. Last night I was trying to get to the next checkpoint and each time I tried to get there a different story unfolded and each time I got killed, I could of fast traveled to the next checkpoint but that would not be as much fun.

Need to craft a weapon holster as I can only carry one gun so my killing options are limited.

It seems that if you kill one pig the other seem to know about this and then proper want to f you up!!

Playing this on ps3 looks kind of how my PC looked years ago when I was playing Farcry 1 on it, this must look unreal on a modern pc.

I've just had what I consider to be the best moment of this game.

Nothing story related or mission related.

Flying a hang glider, hearing an eagle and then looking to my right and this eagle is flying formation with me. It kept with me for about 3 minutes until I had to land, best moment of the game for me.

I've found the best place for sharks is Orphan Point. Spot them on land and then just take a boat to kill them.

I am enjoying it, need more animals to hunt and I would prefer more dangerous and less abundant so it is special when you get killed by a tiger.

Great moment earlier, in and around a pond, just walking along the edge, saw a dead goat just on the edge and thought, why is there a de.... WHACK, an I am hit by a crock...

I finished this 1000/1000gs today. I have to say, having finished it I don't think it's the second coming of Jesus like some people are hailing it. It has positives and some glaring negatives:

Positives:
  • Huge map, fun to navigate
  • Some great voice acting, which is probably great for the wrong reasons. The mishmash of accents is ludicrous, but memorable
  • When it all comes together, you really do feel like Rambo, stealthy or guns blazing, it feels so good to kill
Negatives:
  • Story feels very half baked in the second half of the game, like they had their budget cut, or couldnt make a deadline so they took the easy route to finish the game
  • Gets repetitive, and the second island doesn't feel as detailed as the first, so little incentive to explore so fully
  • Game engine is not brilliant
  • Silly glitches and bugs spoil the fun
The biggest negative for me is the shonky game engine. As I say, when it works, it's ace, however playing the co-op missions through twice highlights the bad bits, as you are shooting pretty much non-stop. My main gripe with it is the poor hit detection, sometimes it feels like the game rolls a dice to see whether or not you'll hit your mark, like a hitscan effect, which was fun in Doom but not here. Furthermore, the bullet penetration is very random. Sometimes, the bullets can rip through anything to hit an enemy, other times you can be pounding a sheet of corrugated iron with a shilouette of an enemy behind it (so you know you are on target) with a .50cal machine gun and yet the bullets just bounce off. It's definitely not as slick as some other games, but I suppose with Far Cry trying to do so many different things, it's not surprising that not everything is grade A.

On that note, I actually think the coop missions are the most fun part of the game, though perhaps that is more to do with the company you play it with, but the silliness of a boat crew with LMGs tearing through hundreds of pirates brings a smile to my face. The fact that there are ammo and explosive refills dotted all over the place encourages you to be liberal with your equipment, and again, when it's working it really does look like a shootout from the best Hollywood movies.

A solid 8/10 from me.

I'm not quite at the 2nd island yet but solid 9/10 from me so far. LOVING it. Most addicted I've been to a game for some time.

Makes me wonder if I should revisit FC2 again after this. Did I just misunderstand it or was it lacking?
