Just had an hour on it and it seems to have clicked with me!!

I got a rocket into orbit, successfully maneuvered it a bit to a height I was happy with, then brought it back down to Kerbin.

A few things, I ran out of fuel when looking at descent, had to do it with RCS in the end and I didn't know where to find the launch station, so ended up landing somewhere in a mountainous region.

A huge success though.

Enjoyed it immensley.

Next is to get a ship in orbit, and try to meet up with it using a 2nd rocket, or maybe try for a Kerbin -> Mun orbit change?

I've downloaded the demo, only had 15 mins or so... Need more time to fathom it.

Anyone else struggling to get it running full-screen? I've tried the options page and set 'full screen' but it's still not and half the buttons are below my windows bar!

Also is there a big red 'lunch' button? I've built a simple 3 part rocket, I'm expecting it to explode on the pad, or got up a few metres and crash back down, but it just sits there... Mocking me.

My 8 wheeled Minimus rover is really struggling. for traction in this low grav. It doesn't help that the controls for the wheels are the same keys that do ship orientation in space. had i had narrower wheelbase i'd be constantly tipping over when turning or accelerating.

I thought I did well for landing 15km away from stranded Jeb but these 15km are an absolute nighmare to traverse.

Jeb is now back home with his family! the two stage rover rescue mission was a resounding success!
Even had fuel left for a proper retro burn on re-entry. Slowed from 2000m/s to 400m/s before deploying parachutes!

Note to self, next time when building a two stage rover module, it would be good to have the SAS module on the bit that flies back to earth and not stay with the rover. smile
But taking off from minimus and landing on Kirbal completely manually was a good learning experience I suppose

I made a MechJet for arctic expedition. it has performed very well, but I just realised that I ma carrying like 10 tonnes of oxidizer, which is something my jet does not use. any way I can jettison it?

Use the docking mode, second icon down on the cluster at the bottom left of the screen where it shows the current rocket stage. That stops the ship orientation controls from doing anything, and only RCS and rover wheels will operate when you press the direction keys.

Your rover at least looks vaguely scientific. So far my Kerbals have been to the Mun in their van:

And are still working on a rocket that gets this off the ground without exploding mid-flight:

(It's mostly used for duties ferrying Kerbals around the space centre right now. In this instance I'd forgotten to add a ladder to the ship I was using to bring some back from an unfortunate jump-induced rover accident on the Mun... turns out the roof of the car worked equally well.)

I've got a tough challenge for fellow Kerbanauts to help them practise their rendezvous and docking skills...

Introduction:
A rogue satellite has developed a critical fault and its orbit could decay any moment, putting the lives of countless Kerbals on the surface at risk. It cannot be repaired via EVA so in a desperate measure the Kerbal Space Programme has tasked you with building a rocket-ship to retrieve the satellite. You are the Kerbals' only hope!

Objectives:
1. 25 points - Deploy a small satellite in a circular orbit around Kerbin
2. 50 points - Build a rescue rocket and rendezvous with the satellite (<100m)
3. 100 points - Dock with the satellite
4. 75 points - Return the satellite to the surface of Kerbin without any damage

+ bonus points for cool rocket designs!

Post screenshots of each stage completed to earn your points smile
Sounds fun! Will have a pop at this smile

These are awesome! how do you have the Kerbanaught sitting in the correct positions too?

I present to you a very long range jet (though very lardy thanks to tones and tonnes of unwanted oxidizer)

And an Ion powered Aeroplane

Put a ladder in front of where you want the "seat" to be, then they can grab on to it while on EVA.

(The control of the vehicle itself is done by putting one of the space probe parts on it. The small octagonal one works well.)

This seems fun having played the demo, I'm not sure it does it for me enough to stump for the full game though. I find the control rather difficult and the craft often end up in uncontrollable spins due to either a lack of airflow to make the control surfaces work or even when in orbit it seems impossible to stabilize the craft and you seem to end up having to make constant minor adjustments :\

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong though....

When I was playing the demos the control surfaces went on the stage to be dumped. Was there not a control system for....

Damn it, off to steam......

Spent 10 hours ish making a space shuttle. I have no idea why. I am at a stage where i can put all sorts of things on other planets yet i am faffing about with a low lift 100% reusable and space capable shuttle.

Still failing btw :P

Completed the tutorials upto orbiting the Mun part 1 (is there a part 2?- landing on the Mun,i cant see it)

Had a few launches/orbit/re entry some succseful, some not so.

Next will be to start building a space station/refuelling centre.

still learning and still enjoying it very much! cant wait for a full version with career mode etc.

Forgot how much fun the demo was. Went for the site bought rather than steam bought and struggling to get to space. Went the Jeremy Clarkson (POWER....) route and blew up after a few seconds. Tone it down a tad. If I remember from the demo I played, my first off world success also sent me out the solar system (or at least headed that way).

I finally got to the Mun. It took this:

To land this:

And get this back to a safe landing:

It's much easier now the map shows orbit vectors. Now to fit a ladder so Jeb can get out...

Get to the Mun isn't a problem, landing and then getting back tends to be a little troublesome. Also the latest version sucks up pretty much all the power my system has.
