I just downloaded the Demo to this a couple of weeks ago. Certainly like the premise. Will probably buy it.

Feel free to chuck me a FR on PSN (username:Speckle) and let me know when you reach about level 8 (my 4th alt is around that level and I really enjoyed playing the campaign missions at the appropriate level) thumbup

Seriously though, I'm in 2 minds about the DLC. I think I'll get it but the pricing is putting me off:

Each individual expansion(3) = £12
Seasons pass for expansions = £32
Gold edition (base game+exps) = £25

I think the Gold edt is available until the 19th. I'll play for the next week and probably end up buying the Gold edt, which is annoying seeing as I already own the game.

So.

I re-emerged into NYC. It felt like putting on an old comfy pair of shoes. The music took me straight back to running away from those damn Riker shotgunners (rage) in the main world and trolling the DZ hehe

First thing- a million things pop up on the screen. Things to do! Daily missions, weekly missions, new story quests, horde mode(!!!), monthly events, PvP modes, survival, world tiers. There is so much content. I was very impressed with that.

I check my gear- the trusty First Wave M1A and Aug exactly where I left them biggrin. Complete with the striker set I snagged before quitting the game took me to what I thought was a seriously excellent gear score of 201. I go into the first safe house, Jonny Big-potatoes, only to see people with gear scores of 280+. I left the safe house. hehe

Really enjoying this. I planned to play for 30mins which turned into a couple of hours without realising. I think they've nailed 3 things:-

1. Progression- it feels like everything you do is progressing some sort of objective with a guaranteed loot drop at the end. As somebody who has been playing a lot of Fifa of late, with a horrific RNG system, this is a revelation. It doesn't feel grindy either. Good loot seems to drop generally but not too much- balance seems good.

2. The changes and activities in the normal zone (Light Zone? LZ? scratchchin) mean it is relevant. The ability to scale up the difficulty of the AI by pressing a button means it will never be "just run through this lot." It didn't even enter my head to look at the DZ as there is so much good stuff to do. Horde mode is a lot of fun. Wave 8 was achieved!

3. Numbers. Think it is my personality, but I love to see numbers popping over an enemies head when I damage them. Not sure if they've tweaked the animations but this feels so good. Couple with that the fairly deep but accessible RPG elements to customisation, and there is a real draw to come back. I think I spotted a station to upgrade all equipment to the highest levels so if you ever get a gun that you like, it will never become redundant.

If this was the game on release, it would be as popular as Destiny 1. I'm going to have to buy the DLC if you two, and the other eejits (angel) buy it.

Agree with pretty much all of that. I'm even happy for you to go trolling the DZ now - troll away young troll! Nobody has to go into the DZ if they don't want to these days as, like you say, the LZ is now relevant to progression. I can spend an hour farming bosses just like I used to in the DZ, who can all drop the same quality of loot as anywhere else, with no concern of some spotty little Oik taking my stuff thumbup

Then, I'll go do some horde mode, or HVTs, or daily challenges, or daily missions by which time, the bosses will be back. It is pretty much exactly what people were asking for when I left.

I believe that there are also dedicated PvP modes now (not sure if they require DLC though)

The stats and the numbers and mods and builds still confuse the hell out of me. My current goal is simple - 'must get 4 piece striker set' for DPS at current level. The maximisation station ain't cheap at 50 div tech per roll but, loot seems to drop like candy no matter what activity you're doing so I'm not sure how necessary it will be (except to the stat wes).

Some of the mechanics still frustrate me. For example, trying to turn on or track an enemy that has just rushed you feels clunky and imprecise.

I do like the fact that you can be fighting one group of enemies and another group will get aggro and attack you from behind. It is annoying as hell but, gives a better sense of immersion because, of course they would join in if they saw you shooting their buddies! Makes perfect sense.

Overall, really enjoying it so far. Nice to see everyone playing the same game again (something Destiny 2 was supposed to achieve for at least a year or two!)

Yeah, dude. It ain't perfect. I don't like the way the DPS stat will switch between primary and secondary when looking at the stats of new armour. frown

The animation when hit by an axe (hehe) etc is infuriating when you're trying to shoot. My dude just stumbles around. frown

But the rest is epic.

...and i still want one of those sweet-ass capes that the snipers have frown

Should be around this weekend for some japes.

I went into the DZ on my own yesterday for the first time since coming back and felt a genuine sense of foreboding. Then Adam turned up and I started to feel like my usual lairy self againshoot We cleared some landmarks, got ganked by a group of 4, then promptly lefthehe

Look out for the NinjaBike backpack. It gives you 1 perk upgrade on each gearset you're wearing. I'm aiming for 2 Nomad/2 Predator/1 Striker and Ninjabike.

Optimisation is expensive.......I've used it about 8 times thus farsmash

Well, that sounds like it was....erm....fun?

I currently have 2 x nomad and 4 x Alphabridge. I'd like a 4 piece striker set in addition to the nomad but, they just won't drop for me! I think I have one usable piece. What is the predator 2 piece perk?

Haven't used optimisation at all yet, no clue how it works! There are just too many stats and numbers for my poor ageing brain hehe

Toying with the idea of going for a 2, 2, 2 gear-set combo. scratchchin

I'm liking the D3-FNC perks for PvE but there's also a need to have some PvE spec gear for the DZ. I got shanked yesterday. Ironically, whilst staying in cover readying to shank t'other agent, a pack of rabid cleaners bent me over... hehe

Still, completed the weekly challenges and got an epic set of Nomad gloves- SMG and Marksman damage which I optimised to take to 286 GS. I also dropped the Heel exotic Marksman rifle. The DPS for that beast is 507,000. eek

Yeah, I've been trying out the 4 piece D3-FNC this morning. Ballistic shield with SMG feels very strong although, admittedly I've only tested it on LZ bosses so far. Ideally, I'd like to compliment the build with 2 x lone star as my ammo capacity seems to have suffered relative to my Striker set.

Still not convinced by Gold Edition. I'll probably pick the UG expansion but, the others don't particularly appeal.

Dude, what about using the healing station with ammo modifier? You have a longer healings and also endless ammo. Healings is life. thumbup

Impressed with the community in game. Played a challenging difficulty mission with a guy with a high level. At the end, he came over, clapped and then dropped all of his newly acquired schweet green loot. He then disappeared.

The hero we need but don't deserve.

probs shanked him a few hours laterhehe

TBH at high level all you want is classified gear and maybe a couple of exotics. Anything else is either to be sold or deconstructed. If it's sold, well, I have 800,000,000 credits already. I also have over 1k fabric, 500 of everything else too. Someone in a similar position to myself could easily drop 98% of what I pick up and not be bothered in the slightest. I've been playing on PC since it launched and even finding something that will improve my loadouts, even when it's a gearset that hasn't had classified released yet, like Firecrest, is very, very rare. In fact I rarely actually check any of it and deconstruct it at mission end most of the time.

Maybe he took pity on you after what I'm sure was a woeful performance in the mission? hehe

I re-rolled the chest piece and one other piece for ammo capacity (instead of kill XP) so, my SMG starts with around 1750 now. Not that that was anywhere near enough for solo resistance (before you ask, it did not go well - got to 5th wave, then got destroyed!!)

My Firearms/DPS is nowehere near strong enough with my current DN3 build. In all the videos I've watched, the elite NPCs get insta-melted whereas my lowly 260k SMG takes a while to put them down. I can't sacrifice stamina as you need the 6k for the 4 piece shield buff. Think I'll just stick to groups from now on, or maybe try Striker instead.

As returning players with a bit of catching up to do, I think a lot of us are fortunate (unfortunate?) enough not to be in that position yet. I think I need to just start dismantling anything less than, say, 275 - my inventory is currently an absolute mess and I have multiple weapons I will never, ever use! Unfortunately, I'm a bit of a hoarder so, I just chuck things in the stash....just in case I need them later, which I never do! hehe

Yep, I'm deffo not at the stage where I'm searching for that elusive piece, but thanks for the tip. thumbup

Spackle- ps off thumbup

Jumped into the DZ solo last night, just as I was contemplating going to bed. Thought I'd spend a few minutes seeing what was about. Stumbled into the extraction point in the park/square- the large one perhaps in DZ4. There was nobody about but the boss and a load of very, very angry rikers. Anyway, I decided to clear them for the weekly challenge (purple bar enemies) although this involved running away, healing and coming back hehe

Meanwhile, at the bottom of my screen, I see:-

Xtya817 has killed Rex45
Xtya1001 has killed XxxnoscopeyoloxxX
Xtya999 has killed... you get the picture.

There were three of them running amok but managing to get timers down so no man hunt. I cheered them silently. biggrin

Anyway, I eventually dropped the boss only for him to drop some green. I ventured over and what do you know, a green set of striker gloves at 277. My GS is currently 278 but my gold gloves are holding me back at 270. These were perfect and with decent perks! biggrin I HAD to extract them. As I was already there, I called it in and then hid in a corner. I pulsed at 10 seconds to extraction to see 3 agents patrolling the extraction zone. They weren't being defensive but patrolling. LOOKING eek My worst nightmare.

I legged it. On my way up the main road, I passed an agent running to the extraction. I would have avoided him but there was no place to hide. We guardedly passed each other and then I hid completely out of sight but close by.

Xtya1001 has killed Jonboy eek

Went to a safe house and turned the PS4 off. If it is like before, I should spawn in there with those gloves. I'll wait until the squad are online before trying to extract.

Heart was pounding. All for a pair of pixels resembling bloody gloves.
