Think it only works on fallout as a Pipboy.

The download is free but you will need an additional 58 GB of available space to install the texture pack.

Great news as I've just got a bit bored with Skyrim in 4K having played it to death and started Fallout again. It's about time us console converts were rewarded for dumping high end gaming PC's so long ago.The music to Fallout is so atmospheric that klaxon type sound in the music when around Santuary Hills and the Red rocket never fails to send chills up my spine (even better with a high end surround sound system blasting out)

Sony do an app for Mac OS that lets you do similar. Just have to plug the ps4 controller in with USB.

Think windows can do it as well, but I remember I couldn't do it on my windows 7 machine for some reason.

I was looking forward to these, as I'd just built a new gaming rig which was handling FO4 (and everything else...)just fine. I think the 6600 i5 will be OK, but I've only an 8Gb 1070

Win10 x64
i5-6600 (3.3GHz, same as the 5820 in the specs above)
GTX 1070 8Gb
16Gb RAM

bks frown

Might download them anyway and see....are they actually out yet?

Blimey, a GTX 1080 8GB is a bit of a tall order - those things retail for around £600. eek

I thought my 6-core i7-6900K, 32 GB DDR4 RAM and GTX 980 4GB was a decent PC but it seems Bethesda don't agree.

They're literally OTT texture files, most likely they had them lying around and thought why not release them for those people who have a computer powerful enough to actually use them. They'll be past the point of optimisation where the extra power needed to utilise them far outweighs the visual gain.

Sort of like Crysis' Ultra mode, they knew realistically no PC could run it smoothly at the time, but the game because famous as a benchmark because of it.

Got the specs off steam - http://steamcommunity.com/games/377160/announcemen... possibly might change but I bet it's Bethesda just being Bethesda and they haven't optimised the textures.

Still playing this, it's a good time sink:

Those specs for the textures are just obscene.

It's available for download - http://store.steampowered.com/app/540810/

Good luck.

If anyone does let us know if it's really noticeable against the much smaller 4k HD texture download that are on the Nexus. (eg. Vivid)

Im running a i7- 6700k and a gtx 1080 on a 4k tv. I still get fps drops on some games, mainly battlefield 1.

Hmm, looking at the screenshots that have been shared it actually looks somewhat worse than with the third-party texture packs I'm already using.
Going to give this one a miss I think- though I might try and replace any textures I don't already have replaced with these ones.

Forgive me for being offtopic, but we're all people here. We haven't played F4 for about half-a-year now, and really miss it. I upgraded my PC with a new CPU (6 core 3000), motherboard and memory modules (32gb). My question is such - what sub 100 pound used GPU should I go for these days? All advice will be greatly appreciated.

I only have experience of nVidia cards, but rough rule of thumb is for each series (700 series, 800 series, 900 series, 1000 series) then it goes *60 = good, *70 = better, *80 = best. So the 980 GTX is the best card of the 900 series (although the run-out Ti cards muddy the water a bit there).
There will be plenty to choose from on eBay as people like me tend to buy new and then put their old card up for sale on eBay to mitigate the cost. Right now I have an overclocked MSI 980 GTX 4G which last time I looked had a resale value of around £200 (maybe a little less now).

Do keep an eye on power requirements though as the older card draw much more power than the newer ones. If you have a 650W PSU or greater then this is unlikely to be a problem, but I remember having a 500-series card back in the day that recommended a whopping 850W PSU.

To be honest I'd suggest you budget 150-200.

Indeed. You won't get a lot for £100 and you'll be running Fo4 on its lowest settings with a card in that price range. yes
