Star Trek Online - anyone play it on here?
Discussion
Yea been on it since the start (sad I know), its a good fun game if you like Star Trek.
They have really revamped it a lot and have a really good set of tutorial missions, you can get end game gear without needing to "Pay to Win" via the featured episodes or the reputation system.
let me know your in game details and I'll ping you some bits to help you get started, happy to drop you into the fleet if you want too.
It'll just be little bits like right clicking certain weapons allow auto firing etc. but happy to help as you come across them.
Edit: Federation has the most variance currently in terms of ships etc. but not by much, possibly the easiest start into the game though.

That would be great, but don't do it yet as the download is only 35% complete so far...
I guess you will want the username, which is cbrjwrr (it seems you cant use capitals...) but I don't know if there is anything else yet.
The last game I played anything like this was Star Trek Bridge Commander back when that was new, don't suppose its like that?

Looking at some YT vids it looks very pretty,so may have to install.
Is it mostly fleet fighting stuff?Or more exploring/mining?Or FPS style away team fun(red shirt not advised I presume!)
Is t very complex/fiddley like EVE?
You can pretty much play any style, Solo, fleet, pvp etc you can pick it up really quick and it has a very addictive minigame you can start at level 10 that is basically a send your duty officers on text based away missions for rewards etc, it has a lot of mission chains in it.Is it mostly fleet fighting stuff?Or more exploring/mining?Or FPS style away team fun(red shirt not advised I presume!)

Only 2 hours in, so I've only just completed the Federation compulsory tutorials (I think) and its exceeded every expectation I had - my only annoyances are A) I don't have a clue what I'm doing, (not in a bad way - like completing the tutorial in a TES game for the first time) B) loading up the game for the first time took ages, and C) I don't know how to pause it. That's about it, aside from hardware issues at my end. (3 letters of my keyboard not working, mouse cuts out regularly - kind of a pain)
Its everything I can remember liking about ST:BC, with everything I like about Freelancer. Only better.
For a free2play there is a lot to do initially, almost too much and its fairly overwhelming!
However a lot of the new content is just too much tedious grinding, and after you have exhausted the interesting stuff, and played infected/cure space elite a few hundred times I was starting to lose interest.
You can get some decent stuff for free, but you could also easily plough $1000s into it...

Load times can vary depending on the server load and your broadband speed and you cant really pause it as its online and therefore realtime.2. Cant comment, haven't played EVE...

If anyone wants to join a fleet for help, group events and access to good ships and gear then try out http://ufplanets.com/
If you wish to try out more of a challenge you can adjust your difficulty in the options and also the game doesn't run full graphics as standard so you can usually make it look even nicer if your pc allows.
I quite like ground missions, some of the big 20 player maps can be quite fun.

May sound a bit daft, but, umm, how? I've been trying to figure it out myself...Another thing - my Romulan character has been given a mission which involves looking at Tal Shiar files in her ready room - and unfortunately, I cant figure out how to do that... (Tradecraft, if it jogs anyone's memory)
ETA - turns out its an option on a drop down menu on the right side of the display...
Also, I've acquired a Dominion and a Cardassian Lockbox, and well, I don't particularly want either. If they are tradable, anyone on here want them?

Played this for a while and thought it was great at first but then got bored pretty quickly due to
1) Away Team missions, got very boring very quickly.
2) Space based combat looks great but the tactical options available to you seem pretty limited so it seems you spend more time watching it then actually effecting the outcome. The combat system just doesn't seem very deep.
3) A lot of the missions are boring as hell fetch missions, I don't want to traipse halfway across the galaxy to try to find someone, pickup a doodad and delivery it to someone else. This is supposed to be Star Trek, not a Parcel Force simulator.
So while it initially showed a lot of promise and some of the space fight missions were cool, it didn't have the staying power for me. Has it got better or am I doing it all wrong?

Should be a mail icon on the middle right of your minimap, if you send to @arkliea1978 it should go to all of my characters.
Lockboxes are tradable on the exchange, see what the prices are like. But they are only around for a short while so may be an idea to keep hold of them.
Ok, Ill try it next time I'm in game. Lockboxes are tradable on the exchange, see what the prices are like. But they are only around for a short while so may be an idea to keep hold of them.
BTW, sorry about refusing the team request earlier, I was concentrating on the mission I was on, and it never occurred to me it would be you until I had entered the system...
Apparently, I cant send mail yet...

Theres probably a limit where you need to do something or be active for a certain amount of time to stop spammers.BTW, sorry about refusing the team request earlier, I was concentrating on the mission I was on, and it never occurred to me it would be you until I had entered the system...
