New title coming Spring 2015 by From Software and Miyazaki!

I guess this is what Project Beast was!

Spring 2015 release window
- They started work on this right after finishing Artorias of the Abyss, planning it for Sony's new hardware
- The world and story is completely new, and the setting takes full advantage of the PS4's capabilities
- The expected spec for the game is 30fps at 1080p
- The keywords for the game is "blood" and "beast"
- There will be melee and long range weapons (guns) this time
- Character customization is confirmed
- There will be no map display in the game
- He wants combat to not just focus on action but also the strategic element
- The combat in the game is designed to feel like a life or death struggle
- There will be online elements of some sort, and it will involve players "discovering" together

Could this be the title to make the PS4 worth buying?

As a hardened Souls fan, it's probably just about enough to make me bite the bullet and pick up a PS4.

Not until nearer the time though - by which time it will hopefully have seen a price drop.

Sounds interesting will keep an eye on this one.

One thing that bugs me about all these so called "next gen" games is

The expected spec for the game is 30fps at 1080p

really? 30fps?

Indeed, I had planned my usual tactic of buying one to supplement to Xbox. IE, play exclusives on the PS4 and play everything else on the Xbox. However, there is just nothing on the PS4 at the moment to make it worth shelling out for, so I'm going to wait for this to draw near, and hopefully see another price drop of techn revision in the meantime.

So, what do we think this Bloodborne will end up as? A shiny, next-gen Dark Souls-esque title set in a Victorian horror setting?

I Think Dark Souls in a Victorian setting, a sort of Van Helsing feel to it all, would be brilliant!

PS blog about it.

Sounds like a great concept. However, the comments about wanting to take the pace and balance out of the Dark Souls combat style and make it more frenetic are worrying. You have to have some ego to think you can better the Dark Souls combat, given that it's widely praised as the best hand to hand combat system ever used in gaming.

Better quality here.

Looks every bit the Victorian Dark Souls then. Curses? Fog gates? Have I seen this before?

I was going to preorder, then I remembered how bad watchdogs was. I'll wait until the embargo lifts later this evening instead of risking being burned again.

It does look spectacular though, initial mutterings seem very positive too.

Me!

I don't really do digital - too tight, and wedded to the idea of being able to sell the disc on once I'm done with it - but I nearly broke my own rule by buying digitally from the US store so I'd get it tomorrow rather than wait until Friday. I resisted temptation in the end - but only just....

I think the embargo lifts later today (or early morning tomorrow) so I'd guess reviews will start appearing in the next 24 hours. I noticed Eurogamer mentioned this morning that they'd have an "impressions" piece going live at 2am tomorrow (not sure why it's not a full view....)

I watched some Twitch streams of it over the weekend and it looked to be quite a lot faster than the previous Souls games but still recognisably from the same origins. Irrespective of what the reviews say, it's a must-buy for me.

FromSoftware >>> Ubisoft though. I haven't preordered, but the US get it today I think, then JP, then EU, then UK on Thursday? So at least the first impressions and 'reviews' can come out before we buy it, in the unlikely event that it's a flop (doesn't look like it will be though, does it? cool )

Apparently Playstation Denmark are giving it away for free to people that donate blood during release week.. what a country..

Yep, I'm in the US so could have it today.

All the indicators point to it being ace, the few reviews that are out there seem to be glowing. I'm pretty positive it'll be special, but I can wait a few days.

I've stayed away from the video clips so as not to spoil any of it.

Fingers crossed it's as good as it should be.

I'll be waiting for the reviews. Far too many stinkers being released that should've been great.
