It's fairly simple once you work your way down to the Chapel lantern. From there, defeat the two hunters in the chapel hall and you'll quickly find that the area links together very quickly, from the Hypgoean Gaol back to the very first Yahar'gul spawn. Once you've cleared the hunters out of the chapel, it's a fairly simple exercise to find your way down. I'm actually just down at the very bottom of the village now, where those masses of corpses attack you. Their ranged attack is fairly brutal.

Just beat the One Reborn before heading off to work today. Very easy, but the design of that boss is amazing.

I've hit a bit of a wall on the Loran Darkbeast in Lower Loren Chalice Dungeon layer 3.

THe camera is just awful, it's constantly spinning and flipping directions. So you go to dodge one way, the camera spins and you dodge into attacks rather than away from them. IF I do it without locking on, none of my attacks connect.

Update:

Made it to the Frontier. Struggled to get to the witch boss but got it all sorted eventually and beat the witch on third go.

Found the way to return to unseen. Cleared that out except the level boss after the big pig. Decided I would come back another day...

Left the boss at the top of the steps in Yargnum (spl?!). I turned right at the top of the set of stairs before the final one and found the electric shock hunter. Got killed so decided to leave him be. Went the opposite way through the value with the riflemen and eventually got to Frontier.

Questions: There is a type of enemy who skulks about in a cloak (about 1.5 times my height) and he is very deadly. You meet them up the stairs near the lamp in unseen village. I can't beat them in a fair fight, I have to keep finding ways to stop their progress such as a small doorway or stairs that they are too tall to descend. I'm wondering if there is a secret to dealing with them..! :-)

Great game.

Are those the enemies with the sacks ?

If so, you want to run up and smash them. Then they start to glow red for a bit, this is them buffing, while they do this get behind and do a charged R2. This staggers them, then backstab them (R1) up close for massive damage. That will probably kill them.

Now you are in nightmare frontier, you get the joy of being invaded. Lots.

Yes - those are the enemies with the sacks. Quite casual in their actions till they glow red and suddenly they have too much energy and wreak havoc. Thanks for the guidance.

I'm a fan of charged R2 when i know someones timing. I use rapid R1 attacks for those I don't know their timing. I have learned a bit about stunning people with my pistol and then attacking them. Occasionally I do some sort of mega move when the person is stunned but I'm not sure I know what exact button combo to press to execute a big attack when I have pistol stunned an enemy. Can you guide pls?

I've been playing offline most of the time just because it suits me and my style (or lack of) but now I guess it's time to play online :-).

I managed to get into the first dungeon and was wasted by the Undead Giant a few times. I had no blood echoes or vials for energy so left him for now and will return.

I've found some sort of electrical shock weapon but my threaded cane is so much more powered up and my skill is high so I'm much better with it and stick to it.

What weapon have you been preferring throughout the game?

Cheers

This is the parry/riposte, you need to time the firing of your weapon so that you get a shot off as they start their swing at you, not whilst they are winding it up, but the instant it comes at you, this will vary by enemy and not all can be parried in this way. You just need to practice. Once you've done it right you'll hear a "ding!" noise and have a second or so to get up close to the enemy and hit R1 to do the visceral attack you mention.

Read this guide I posted earlier, it's very good:

The Tonitrus is the weapon, you need to press L1 to activate the electrical charge, which lasts about 7 seconds and will do loads more damage. I used that on a couple of bosses and it was really helpful, only downside is that it isn't the most durable weapon and doesn't take long for it to break.

As to the weapon I used, I stuck with the threaded cane myself.

To do massive damage, stun them with your pistol then just walk up close in front of them and push R1. You'll do a visceral attack. Charged R2 attack from behind will stun them, walk up behind them and press R1 and you will do the same visceral attack from the back.

I almost exclusively use the Threaded Cane. Mines is now +10 with decent gems (Physical Attack +21.9%, Physical Attack + 19% and Physical Attack + 15% & Physical Attack + 15) or something like that. With bolt paper as well it does pretty good damage! I think it's stats is something like 156 + 258. It should get you through New Game easily and I like it for PvP. Although judging by the weapons other people are using in PvP, it seems like the best are the burial blade and Blades of Mercy. Both are kinda hard to get though.

The electrial weapon is tonitrus, good weapon but it breaks too quickly. It's durability is rubbish. Once upgraded to +10 it's incredibly powerful though with the right build. It's not a weapon for a skill build.

Perfect - thanks gents.

I didn't read the link previously as I wanted to discover the game for myself. When playing Skyrim, it felt like the wikipedia sites had so much info that there was no point playing and exploring yourself if you had read them. I only wanted to pick up small bits of info for Bloodborne that aid me on my own experience rather than being given so much intel that it made it too easy. This thread is the perfect drip feed.

Your threaded cane sounds like a proper monster. I'm getting there and I'll pick up my stats of weapons n character tonight and share for discussion tomorrow.

Keep at it. I found LOTS of dodging and then a few swipes of the light attack and then dodge some more. Lots of healing and I somehow got through it eventually. I'm currently fighting some massive electrical beast in the "unseen village". He mashed me in two seconds and I had no spare health vials so it was all over pronto tonto :-)

I will be back!

You can fight him way later if you want, then he's a piece of cake.

I have been everywhere in the unseen village that I can access except for where the electrical boss is. I've killed both the pigs and been up and down the spiral stairs and to both ends of the street. The big doors at the far end past the pig are closed to me. Are you suggesting I completely forget about this location "unseen village" and come back later?

I've cleared out the nightmare location and killed the witch, so I think I have "completed" that area. Well I cannot find anywhere else to go there.

I've got right to the top of the steps with all the watchmen (the final two having the big crucifix on their shoulders|) in what I think is the Cathedral ward area. I have tried twice to kill the electrical hunter that is off to the right but he and his blunderbus mate kill me... I've tried the boss at the top of the steps but no luck so far. I'm starting to wonder where my next location I should be head is?

So far, Other than the boss in unseen, the boss at the top of the cathedral ward (iirc) steps after the crucifix guys and turning right to kill the shock hunter, I think I have covered all routes.

Cheers

Instead of turning right at the front door of the Cathedral, turn left. wink

Yes - which I believe takes you to the frontier land where I have cleared and killed the witch boss already. You pass through a glade of trees with lots of riflemen.

:-)

I think I have that covered above but feel free to point anything out I have missed! :-)

Sounds like you've got the Unseen Village sorted. When you come back later, the pigs will be gone and there will be rotting bunches of corpses stuffed into boxes on the street. Follow the street all the way down the hill to Advent Plaza, where you fight The One Reborn. That's for later, after you've killed Rom.

If you've killed the witch, you won't be able to proceed further in that direction. The two hunters outside the Cathedral guard a path which goes down to connect with the Blood Starved Beast area at the bottom of Old Yharnam. This area also links in with Darkbeast Paarl's arena - he is the lightning covered beast in the Unseen Village. On dropping down to fight him, the only way to proceed other than the lamp is to go through the big door into Old Yharnam. No, what I suspect you need to do is go back to the Cathdral where you fought Vicar Amelia and watch the cutscene activated by interacting with the table at the far end. That gives you a password that can open a door on the other side of the Cathedral Ward, this allows you to progress through to the forest area.

It's a bit difficult to decipher where you have been exactly but maybe if you take a look at this map it may help?

I wouldn't really say it's much of a spoiler but to beware. It's in a flow chart format but it doesn't suggest any order in which you should do things.

BOOM - u have my situation worked out perfectly. Well worked out :-). I need to fight and killed Vicar Amelia. I was pasted by her the first two times and decided to run around exploring rather than keep fighting her time after time. Sounds like I need the cut scene and password as I know someone previously asked me for the password and I didn't have it.

Thanks - That is tonight's challenge!
