Yes, do that - BF4 is dire.
It's probably one of the best games of the past two years in my opinion, yes it has had its issue but those are (largely) dealt with. I've got over 200 hours logged in multi-player and I still enjoy playing. However, I will say I wouldn't bother with it on the console. I just find the mouse controls a bit more intuitive and I've never got on with a stick. I think to enjoy it to it's full extent you really need a PC.

I'm in a quandary myself, contemplating a PS4 for Christmas but then with GTAV PC release on the horizon I just think the money will be better spent upgrading my system. The only thing swaying it is the new Uncharted next year and The Last Of Us re-hash. I really want to re-play it.

Oh I don't know. I remember when I was a kid and playing Yars Revenge on an Atari 2600. Now look at games, I am playing on-line on battlefield with 30 odd humans. This means no two games are ever the same, because people do things differently. Incredible really.

Just got and now completed Far Cry 4. Games like Fallout 3 and Skyrim have me amused for hours and hours. When Fallout 4 comes out, I am going to lose many hours on it!

Yeah, got a bit bored of the "kill 8 of these", "collect 3 of these and take them there", "kill 4 of those and bring their things to me" quests.

I do still play Battlefield 3 just for the quickfire action, mainly team deathmatch. Although I'm getting on (wrong side of 40) I can still do fairly well on the scoreboard although it's obvious that there are some very, very good players with fast PCs and fast reactions.

And I do find the likes of Diablo 2 entertaining mainly to build up a character and get funky spells. Currently playing Mage and Minions on my phone as you can get the computer to do the manic clicking to attack - I just select a target and let the computer do the rest to watch the action while planning the best way to kill a group or build up a character. Mind you when I first played Diablo I quickly got bored of wading in and killing preferring to sit back and set off traps or summon a bear to do my work.

Try Skyrim... And Fallout 3.

And when their sequels come out on a PS4.......... Heaven.

Get a PC instead. There is a huge variety of games available that you would never see on consoles. I am early forties and fps shooters have little appeal but there are tons of games I can enjoy and entire genres that you can not get on consoles. Strategy games, indie games, mods just don't exist on consoles.

I am currently loving Dayz Overpoch which is sort of a mod of a mod of a mod. Thinking about it most of my favourite PC games don't exist on consoles at all.

Maybe it's because we've seen and played too many games, there is only so many ways to create a game play, it's not like when video games first started years ago and developers are trying to create a different game every few months for us to try out and find which game play style is better or which style brings the most money.

Back then, people used to buy games and find its a 'new' game that they have to work out how to play, but now, most gamer's have seen it all, everything is just the same st different smell.

The last game that I really enjoy was Forza 2, it was the first 'online' racing game I've played, enjoyed it because it was 'new' to me, but the enjoyment didn't last when Forza 3 came out, same st different smell.

I still have a game that I enjoy playing, FF7, have it on PC and it's the modded version, still enjoy playing a game from nearly 20 years ago

Guys, one thing that looks to be a common thread is that you are all talking about AAA games. That's your problem I think; getting the latest version of the same tired IP is going to get boring after a while. The real fun is going on in the indie scene where lots of odd, weird stuff is going on. Go have a rummage through steam greenlight or one of the other indie gaming websites, and you'll find a lot of dross but also some amazing games.

The big studios are able to throw money at games to make them look pretty - hundreds of artists in Asia painting textures, massive render farms, and so on. But good game mechanics and an awesome story only take a few people.

I know the PC Flight Sim guys always hate me for saying this but why no flying stuff, other than shooting at each other, for the consoles. I know, not enough buttons blah blah blah biggrin

But I came across a nice little sim from a German Indie on the Xbox for only £2.99. One runway and one large hilly island, simple enough controls for me. I like getting to 2000ft and cutting the engine to see if I can get back to the airfield intact.

If lack of buttons are a problem how about a gliding sim on the consoles.

I can't see Skyrim being any different and one concern is shelling out for yet another clickathon. I prefer RPGs where you just let the character/computer do the hard work which is why I quite enjoy Mages and Minions at the moment as you click once on a group of monsters and your character with his minions will attack everyone in that group and more if others join. biggrin

I'm sitting there the other night playing the xbox one and I'm desperately trying to find enjoyment in games like I used to... but it's just not there.
Don't mean to sound an elitist pc master race type but I was feeling the same until I bought a pc again.

While pc isn't immune to dlc money grabbing.

If you look beyond the AAA devs you can still find new and unique games.

Who would think i'd enjoy a game where i'd be a passport control officer (papers, please) hehe

IL Sturmovik2 is worth getting - if your interested in flying games. Probably about the only proper flight sim on the 360?

Same age as me. I'm currently enjoying FC4 and waiting for the sequels to Fallout 3, Skyrim and Deus Ex.Games are great value for me these days as I have so little time that they last me for a couple of months (or years in the case of Skyrim). The best thing about being an older gamer is being able to afford a top-end PC.

Kerbal Space Program biggrin

No real hand-holding, you choose the goals and build the rockets (or planes).

And then they explode, because you fked up thumbup

Or you can piss around and do something else if you want. Great fun.

I know what you mean. I gave up the PC years ago (constantly fiddling and too much online play...plus it just started to feel a bit nerdy) and got a macbook, which a much nicer all-around computer to use than a gaming PC.

The Xbox 360 stopped getting used a couple of years ago when i got bored halfway through Halo 4. I would buy a new generation console if they had short, fun arcade style games that don't require too much time dedicated to them - where is the new Ridge Racer on PS4, for instance?

I'm tempted to get a Wii U after christmas for Mario and...thats it.

One of my all time favs on the N64 was PilotWings. They never made a version for the Wii, although it was always hinted.

Sometimes I played the game and other times I just flew around the islands enjoying the view and landing my little gyrocopter whenever I fancied.
It was good, but Piotwings on the SNES was the best game I've ever played.

On N64 Diddy Kong Racing ruled.

I've wasted a few hundred quid on games in the last three years or so, just don't play them enough. Games like Destiny and Far Cry 3 I bought soon after release, played for a few hours and left them. Would have spent days on them when I was younger.

The only game lately that I've finished is GTAV. I even then played it all over again. Keep going back to a few driving games, too. Forza 3, F1 2014, Nascar 2014, Project Gotham Racing 3/4.
