Have you got that already? As it says on MSI's site B450 gaming pro carbon is only compatible with memory up to 3466Mhz, so the 3600Mhz will run at 3466Mhz - https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450-GAMING-PRO-CA...

If you haven't yet, just buy 3200Mhz (oddly cheaper than even 3000Mhz from some places) you will not see the difference and save a few pounds.
Just to update this, although MSI say this board isnt compatable with ram speeds over 3466Mhz, my 3600 is running absolutely fine. I just had to manually select the speed in bios.

Thanks everyone. that Asus VG27WQ seems like a good monitor for the price, but I cannot for the life of me find any reviews or confirmation that it is g-sync compatible.

any ideas or other recommendations for a 27" 1440p 144hz+ monitor g-sync compatible

Don't want to spend more than around £350 as I'm tight :-)

I've had a NVidia G-sync monitor for a while now but running an old 970 GPU so looking to upgrade. Will be looking to upgrade mobo, RAM, processor & GPU. Probably set on an AMD processor and some sort of RTX 2060 GPU but looking at the prices this won't be any time soon! Any deals on GPUs going around or is it just a case of pay up or wait it out?

It’s a really crap time to be buying a GPU. New GPU’s are due from both Nvidia and AMD later this year along with new CPU’s from AMD. Combine that with the stock shortages caused by Chinese New Year production freezes and then the Covid-19 situation, some factories have been shutdown for nearly three months now. As stock has dried up prices pretty much across the board have gone up and as most advanced technology including PC parts are bought in $ the gradual slide of the £/$ exchange rate since Brexit was announced has meant prices rising again.

Basically, if you can, wait until the end of the year, October to November when the new cards will be out and there’s likely to be some second hand bargains too.

When he fits it tell him to be careful with the Thumb Screws! They have Screwheads in to finish tightening and I managed to Shear one completely off.

Seems to be a common occurance looking online and they have to ship the replacement from the US

Can’t comment on too much but be aware that AMD should have new CPU’s out before the end of the year and both AMD and Nvidia are releasing new GPU’s in the next couple of months, so if you were thinking of buying some bits and pieces over the next couple of months, don’t.

Personal preference but when it comes to VFM, I don't think you can do better than AMD processors. A Ryzen 5 3600 paired with a B550 board would be about £50 cheaper and equally fast then spent what you save on faster ram or a better GPU.

Also, rather than buying pre built, its really easy to do it yourself. I just built a couple of systems with absolutely no experience. Its like lego to put it all together.

For reference, this one i built is a similar budget but better specs.

Edit to add, without keyboard, mouse, headset and monitor on that list it comes in at about £950

Is that full win 10 price or an easily available cheaper copy? Can save £80 if not the cheaper option.

Also have you considered air cooling? The be quiet dark rock pro 4 is quieter than my case fans, great at cooling and a lot cheaper than liquid cooling.

I'll take a look at the AMD stuff, I've always been Intel so not too knowledgeable on AMD
