Still, if you can keep in the same budget here is the link to configure, it would be interesting to see what you come up with.

PSu is already overpowered for the setup, and the GPU is going to run a 1080p monitor plus the 1660 is quite cheap/good value.

You could even upgrade to an RTX 3070 (or less obvs) with your budget.

What are you running a i7-10700KF for?
Unlike Intel Ryzen stock coolers don't look as if they were made in the 1970s and do a very good job.
Ps. scratch the 3700x they have a Ryzen 7 5800x on pre-order (didn't spot that) not only better but blows the i7 out of the water. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoqnI9jLT9k
Stick any cooler on that that they have.

don't need integrated graphics but the ability to OC is good to have.Unlike Intel Ryzen stock coolers don't look as if they were made in the 1970s and do a very good job.

Gaming rig
Then I would suggest even at 1080p, the gpu is your most important part. Any reasonable cpu, mobo and ram will do. Overclocking in any form won’t be required. In fact it hasn’t made much difference for years, so you could save money on a cooler and mobo.I would probably just buy second hand or look for a 1080ti bundle on eBay if you are not looking to upgrade any time soon.
Gaming PC for a 12 year old?
Happy to start a separate thread if more appropriate, as I might not be the only PHer with this question in the run up to Xmas.
My son wants a gaming PC for Xmas. I’m happy to buy him one but don’t want to spend a fortune, but also don’t want to regret spending too little. Ideally something which is good enough for now and he can upgrade over the next few years as and when his gaming requirements intensify.
I’ll admit to being out of my depth with this so I wondered if you guys could give me any tips.
At the moment he mostly plays Minecraft, with a bit of Roblox, which I don’t think will be particularly demanding on the PC.
PC: https://www.chillblast.com/chillblast-fusion-imp-g...
Any thoughts on this? It looks a decent price and Chillblast seem to get decent reviews online. Are there any parts which he would need in addition? Presumably a wifi card, but which one?
We have a spare monitor which he can have but we would need mouse and keyboard. At the moment he is using an old Dell laptop and a regular keyboard and mouse, so gaming specific ones might be helpful.
Thanks in advance for any tips.

I clicked on that link expecting to absolutely slate that PC.....and it's not bad. Sure the on board graphics will play Roblox, even Fortnite at 1080p low to medium settings eassily and you can always add a card later, even a new Ryzen 3000 CPU. It's not a bad buy TBH.Happy to start a separate thread if more appropriate, as I might not be the only PHer with this question in the run up to Xmas.

There was some decent deals on RAM and solid state / hard drives on Prime Day, so maybe similar deals for black friday.
Did a full paint in Montana Metallic Titanium with matte clearcoat, replaced the left / right click switches from Omron to Kailh, cleaned and lubed (oi oi) the scroll wheel, fitted custom paracord cable and added the extra G-skate glides to the bottom. Also got one of those Artisan mouse mats from Japan.. Altogether it's night and day from my previous setup, it's gonna makebrowsing porn playing games a whole new experience

I doubt there'll be much movement on CPU's (although perhaps older Gen Ryzen 2 might get a price cut or some offers) and as said there's usually some good deals to be had on SSD Storage but GPU's and newer CPU's have razor thin margin, often single digit% si I doubt there'll be much movement there. In similar boat to above getting one for my oldest and hopefully get better spec for the budget we have.
I'm hoping for a good deal on 32GB Low Latency 3600MHz RAM for my 5800x Build.

Thanks. That’s what I thought but good to get a bit of confirmation. MissChief said:

I have three more Uni fans on the way then I need to transfer a SATA SSD and 2Tb mechanical drive over then we'll be good to go!

If anyone has built or thinking of building a PC using the NZXT H1 case you need to see these videos regarding the fire hazard with the GPU riser.
NZXT finally take action, removes H1 from sale and will be sending out revised risers a sort of safety recall to those who request.https://blog.nzxt.com/a-message-from-our-ceo-johnn...
If you know someone who has one and they do not know about this let them know.

Very tidy looking. Still waiting on my 5950X to turn up but I’ve only been waiting a month. I have three more Uni fans on the way then I need to transfer a SATA SSD and 2Tb mechanical drive over then we'll be good to go!
No RGB in either of my PC’s either but each to their own. Can’t see mine when it’s connected up anyway.
