Cases with 5.25 bays are mostly gone the way of the dinosaurs with the emphasis on max airflow and multiple fans on the front, you could perhaps cut out a space on the top I/O panel and put one there next to the USB ports etc.
I've got 2 x USB in the top panel but my tower case has a couple of unused 5.25 bays I was thinking for it (airflow from a vented top rather than front). If I'm going to drill it I'd prefer to do a blanking plate rather than the case as it's removeable. My GTX1080 only has rear connections though so I'll have to run a cable out through another card/bracket position
You can get PCIE brackets with holes in, that's how I did my HDMI to my internal sensor panel, curious as to what device youre going to run a front mounted HDMI off though.

Oculus Rift. I figure if I front mount it I get an extra meter or so on the cables and can take it off when not in use.

How long do you need?

7.5m long enough ?

8m ?

(6M is generally regarded as a good limit [20ft] )

I don't really need it at all, I just think it would be a neater setup biggrin If I was going to go for 8m extensions I'd be better off using the ports on the rear anyway and having hooks in the ceiling to support it

go for it smile

I had to resort to ali express for a proper full width PCIE bracket with holes in (which I found a bit surprising) then I sprayed it matt black to match the others and fed in my USB & HDMI cables from rear ports into the case.

I used something like this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000571364457.html

That's making me think I could use a female to female surface mount in the bracket with a cable from the graphics card to the bracket and then another from the bracket to the inside of the front port... or I could just cable tie a 1m HDMI extension to the top of the case. PC sits down beside my desk where it's that visible and already has front mounted USB ports. The whole ceiling mount idea would be nice but a bit over top for how rarely I actually use it.

You’ll love it. I treated myself to a 48” version for pc / occasional console use and have never looked back.

Welcome to the OLED party! I've had the AW3423DW since launch and it's brilliant. I run it at 144Hz though because prefer 10-bit colour (photo editing) and the 175Hz is only when in 8-bit.

Anyways, my system was rebuilt with new kit back in the new year )posted previously), went from a 6700K OCd build with 32GB and a 2070 Super and 34" LG IPS ultrawide 60Hz to a 12700KF, 64GB and 3080 Ti FE and Dell 34" QD-OLED 175Hz Gsync Ultimate. The screen being the newest addition.

I'm thinking of going to a dual monitor setup, I've relocated my printer and got a dual monitor riser set up and measurement wise I can fit 2 x 27 inch monitors side by side, so that's all good.

I've got a 3060 ti so I wondered if this was enough to power 2 x 27 inch 1440p monitors as ideally I wanted to match the monitors for size, shape and display brightness etc. I doubt if I'd be running any games on both screens simultaneously, but using one to play, and one for other desktoppy stuff, am I dreaming or would I need 2 x 1080p instead.

You'll be able to power two fine off a 3060ti. You should have pretty decent power for 1440p single monitor gaming out of a ti, it's about equivalent to a 2080 non Super and my 2080 has been great at 2K.

Further to my dual monitor setup query, I saw this came up on Amazon as a Black Friday/week/10 days... bargain.

It ticks pretty much all the boxes, but... the screens are curved (not in itself a problem as my current one is) but 2x curved screens?

Then again, at that price, particularly in todays inflation rising market.

What do you guys think?

The layout (because of desksize is like this) albeit on a angly riser stand that's big enough to fit two screens on.

I hate Dell PCs but they do good monitors. Not sure who their panel manufacturer is but they are decent.

And according to online not just AMD Freesync but it's also G-Sync compatible too, if you have an Nvidia GPU.

My only gripe with those is that I think they're a TN rather than IPS panel.

Great value either way, my (second monitor) second hand ROG Swift cost significantly more than that a year ago (but I don't think my OCD could deal with having two different monitors).

It's a VA screen.

A good deal if you want one and your GPU fits wink

Scan selling the NZXT H1 for £99 - https://www.scan.co.uk/products/nzxt-h1-white-mini...

Remember it comes fitted with a 650w 80+ Gold PSU and a 140mm AIO cooler already fitted.

This appears to be the old version with smaller GPU size and slightly smaller case. The one that regularly went on fire. Make sure the fix has been applied.

Had to tear down my custom loop in the week, some radiator flux got caught in the D5 pump impeller bearing and stopped it from turning on. It seemed to get working fine once I'd cleaned it out but I swapped in my spare impeller just to be sure.

I forgot what a ballache bleeding systems with distro plates can get. I kept getting air bubbles stuck in the flow meter and CPU block. All sorted now and running considerably cooler than it was pre teardown, 4.65GHz all core on my 5900X and even after an hour it hasn't exceeded 73°C.

Waiting for the Heatkiller IV blocks to drop for the 4080 and then I'll be ordering one. When I've got it and a new PSU ordered, and it's torn down again I'll probably take off the case feet and sand them back and refinish as satin aluminium as I did the IO panel.

-Edit

15th fastest 5900X/2080 system ever recorded on Timespy Extreme

Gents, Ladies.. looking to upgrade the boys PC. I'm really not up to speed with these things any more and could do with some help.

Current spec..

GPU - GTX 1050ti
CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 2600X six core
RAM - 32gb

He bought a Pico 4 VR headset with his Christmas money, and whilst the current rig will sort of run Assetto Corsa, it's not real impressive.

Could anyone make some suggestions where I should improve, and what to, with a budget of say £300-400?

Thanks in anticipation.

Depends on your motherboard, but you might be able to drop in a later Ryzen 3000 series. Pair that with a second hand 2080 or a 3060/3060ti and you'll have a very passable gaming system.

Oh, storage. If it doesn't have one but can fit one, drop an M.2 SSD in there.

If your power supply is passable, that'll do nicely I expect.

You should be able to pick up a Ryzen 3600 for under £100 as an immediate boost then its graphics card. Something like a 1080ti/2070 will be a huge boost! 2070 Supers look to be around £200-£230 sold on ebay. That would be a massive upgrade over his 1050ti
