This is how the new box looks without the extras you mention. The previous setup was 2 boxes or 3 if you bought from a well-known retailer that doesn't actually sell Indian food. wink

I have a DK2 and CV1 with Touch; I held off for a good year, but bought in as my brother has had a Vive for some time and whilst room scale stuff is great, I don't have the space to really enjoy it. However, as an Elite and pCars player, I really don't need more than the immersion that provides. A lift in resolution is my biggest "want". I'll buy the next gen and be an early adopter if need be.

Thanks to this thread I just bought a Rift, now just the painful wait for it to arrive! type

Ordered yesterday from the Oculus website and so far no update to the order so no idea how long it is going to be, was checking Steam last night and downloading some games to test it out on when it eventually gets here!

Also interested to see how long my lurker status will be after posting this, I set this account up a very long time ago to sell my car at the time but never posted in the forums, often lurked around reading the threads though...

  • ETA - Seems I dont have any official lurking history then... Also my username isn't right, does it usually take a while to update? Guessing that was the default one they gave when I made the account originally many years ago

Just as an FYI, check your payment has gone, some people are reporting that their banks have stopped payment as a potential fraud issue awaiting confirmation leading to Oculus cancelling the order...

Thanks I will double check, but im pretty sure it has gone through as the CC went through the extra security step/code confirmation etc which usually works well.

You'll need oculus home or whatever it is called as well.
Check out indiegala, humblebundle, greenman gaming etc. Indie gala in particular has good little bundles of cheap/short games for VR. A lot of crud too but at £3 for ten games it's cheap entertainment.

I just checked I ordered on the 14th and I've not been charged yet. I think they normally charge upon shipping though.

Seems like you might be partially right... I checked with my bank to be sure and they said the amount was returned to my CC but didnt know why, it wasnt an issue at their side so looks like Oculus have returned the amount for some reason. They havent replied to my email from this morning asking for an update on the order to confirm, so will have to chase them up before trying to order a new one in case it ends up doubled somehow! banghead

Thanks I will check out those later.

Regarding payments, see my previous post. Strange they charged and then returned it, isn't it? Maybe if they don't have enough stock to cover orders then they aren't taking payment early?

Im living in Austria and the local electronic shops, similar to the indian food mentioned above, don't have them discounted, the woman I spoke to seemed very surprised when I told her how much I would save buying online, but they also didn't have any stock anyway.
They were charging roughly 700 euros for a rift plus touch controllers! Even people selling used ones are currently selling at 500+ here - Good luck with that...

I believe overclockers are still taking pre-orders...one of their staff posted that due to unprecedented demand and lack of supply oculus were going to extend the offer by 2 weeks...

Not trying to convince you otherwise, but with it being a return to Oculus in Netherlands if there's a problem with any piece of kit, does it matter where you get it from?
On that topic my experience is that Oculus support is pretty rubbish, when I had to RMA a failed sensor I got there in the end but it took about 6 weeks in total to sort out, and I had to ask for it to be escalated to a manager. As usual the normal tech support who answer the phones can only follow what their system says, and if they don't have the option to do what you want them to do it's..."computer says no".

A few of the lads I play Onward with have Rifts and they have had issues. The ones who have purchased from amazon get a faster replacement. One guy is on his 4th....

When I originally checked Amazon.de they were selling the rift alone for near 800 euros! Oculus website rift+touch for 449 euros so obviously went for that option.

I checked today on Amazon and they now have the bundle at 449 euros, but they don't deliver to Austria! The seller is Oculus so not sure why, they will from their website...

Would have preferred to order it from Amazon as I would have had it already rolleyes

I just cancelled my order via Oculus as amazon.de had 12 in stock suddenly, so ordered one there to check and they confirmed delivery of the touch box on 22nd and headset box on 25th with prime delivery to Austria, at least i have dates now!

The number left is already down to 6 after about 10 minutes so get in quick if you want one there! smile

Well I've been trying a few apps and games from Oculus. Thought I'd have a look at the ISS Space Station thing.

JEEZ, that is one to avoid yuckhurl

I've tried lots of stuff and had little to no sickness. 5 min on this and I had to throw headset off quick and sit with the fan in my face for 10 min. I thought I was going to vomit, It certainly quickened the action at the other end. I had some water and went to bed, this it the first time I've even been able to get back on the PC.

I'll have a go at my usual iRacing this afternoon but my advice, stay away from space travel kids smile

I received my touch package on Saturday and apparently the Rift package will arrive today, so I might try this later if no others give me any side effects.

I heard Google Earth can be pretty bad too, did you try this yet?

No problems with Earth. Good app that one. Never mind Everest, The Great Wall of China or the Pyramids.
Been to see which car was outside my house.

Had an email from the post office with my code to pick it up later, so it has arrived a day earlier than originally planned! clap
