Searched but couldn't find a topic.
Anybody else enjoying early access to the open beta!? This game is tremendous
For those in the dark, it is an arena FPS (or MOBA... I think). Games are either PvE or PvP and feature objectives akin to capture the flag and the like. There are 21 heroes to choose from falling within classes of DPS, support, tank and snipers/specialists. Nothing out of the ordinary there although the heroes are fairly unique.
BUT. This game oozes character and is also quite funny. Looks a bit like Team Fortress but I never actually played that so can't comment further. Also, the maps are quite intricate- the arenas aren't like Falcon Lost . The gunplay is very satisfying. Some guns don't have the "heft" of Destiny or even BF but it is overall very good. Finally, and bearing in mind this is after an evenings play only, the teamwork required makes for some interesting mechanics, especially in PvP. Playing as support is actually a lot of fun and also pretty essential.
Some gameplay footage although I should caveat this by saying this was PvE with the AI set to a medium setting so they grouped together AND we managed to spawn trap them. PvP is very different thus far and I suspect PvE on a higher setting will result in them emerging from the other exits etc:-

A feature that I really like is a "play of the game" at the end of a match. Instead of a kill cam for the last kill, the game picks out a particular piece of play instead. I managed to bag this in my first match ... Although there will have been some beginner's luck and this was also against the AI:-

It isn't going to be for everybody- the cartoony graphics will put some off, but it is worth checking out. It is very easy to pick up and play and doesn't take itself too seriously. After weeks of The Division, this is just what I need.
Open Beta opens for all tomorrow I think.
Is this 2004 or 2016? I'm confused as that looks bloody dated. I know gameplay counts for a lot but in this day and age it had better look bloody good too.Anybody else enjoying early access to the open beta!? This game is tremendous

Welcome to my world, dude. Semi-rural so the best I can get is 2mb down and 0.5mb up. Fibre broadband is scheduled at my postcode in Q4, 2017.
The kicker?! Superfast broadband is available in the nearby village, 1/4 mile away.
I live in London, the street next to mine has it My cabient only serves 24 flats so it seems unlikely. The kicker?! Superfast broadband is available in the nearby village, 1/4 mile away.
Is the update available now? I can start now in the hope it finishes by launch date!
Yep. Started as soon as I put the disc in. I assume if you're on a digital download, you'll be downloading the already patched version. Otherwise, whack it in and get started!
Took me 6 hours yesterday. Weirdly, mid-way through, the download amount dropped from 3.3GB to 2.9GB so that'll save a little time.
Excellent work, Gazza. Excellent.

The thing is it's not new. TF1 and 2 have already done this "zany" type of shooter and a lot better a long time ago. I think I should just relegate myself to the fact that there is no freshness left in the FPS genre.
Yeh I thought this... until I played it. It's genetics clearly lie with Quake, TF2, Action Quake, TF classic, CS etc. but the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. The crucial thing to remember is to switch characters if you're getting countered. So yes, it's not a reinvention of the genre, it simply refines everything to a very high level making the whole experience a great deal of fun.
