I don't know about the rest of you but I got bored of this a lot quicker than I thought I would. 3 weeks from buying it, playing the st out of it and getting rid.

I have bought this on the Xbox one and not spent loads of time on it but found it to be fun.

Hoping it will keep my interest for more than 3 weeks

My 11yo son likes TF2 (I've no objection to him playing cartoony type shooters) and has been asking whether he can have this. Anything in it that would make it a no go for an 11yo?

@boon2bslow no. It's designed to be family friendly, depends how you feel about tight Widowmaker costumes. DON'T google that though, there's a large amount of fan 'art' :P

@AH33 - yes. Although principally what is putting me off is how good everyone else has got in relation to me; not bored of the game, just bored of being killed in a picosecond. I think it's age and reflexes smile

I'm not bored as such, but competitive has changed my outlook.

I have virtually no interest in quick play now, what's the point?

But I won't play competitive unless we have at least 5 of us online (and even that's begrudgingly), and my group is fairly small. So I'm playing less!

I have found that the match making for 6 man teams with everyone ranked is superb though. We've had some brilliant fights that have been won and lost by so little.

I'm not quite to 25 yet, but I don't think competitive will hold any interest for me for the same reasons I won't play it in CS, not that I have anything against it being an esport unlike a certain CCG. Sure there's strategy and emergent gameplay, but discussion of "comps", "main" and alike, as if it's as in-depth as high-level play in a MOBA (never played one to be honest, I do know they can be stressful to play) are a bit cringeworthy imho, never watched the pros but those terms were unheard of in TF2. It's just a fun, reasonably accessible game, what to pick is something you get a feel for and comps happen on the fly. Not that it can't be an esport in the same vein as TF2 was of course.

I've been trying to play a bit more this week, I don't really care about the characters but it's a lot of fun. I need to get around to trying a few again with the recent buffs.

When I first started playing I don't know what it was but I absolutely cleaned up with Zenyatta nearly every time, somehow getting tons of kills, barely dying and healing plenty, but I struggled most of the time lately.

Not sure if anyone else has the same problem but when you can attack a bit and can heal or buff teammates a bit, I'm trying too hard to be all things and can't keep up. I had the same problem trying Ana, people say we need a healer (I don't think you always do) and you're struggling to keep a clear view to your teammates, there's no time left to even be in a sniping position and have time to damage anyone, so hoping it's easier with the buff.

After weeks of getting ever so close (299x) to diamond before the team got match-made with utter eejits, I finally hit diamond ranking yesterday party

I got to the dizzy heights of 3027 (hehe) before said eejits made a return so now back down to 3000. I don't think I'll get to grandmaster level (3500?!) but then that is a jump from top 7% to top 2%. I'm nowhere near that level. eek

Have to say, and I imagine some of you guys are way beyond my skill level and so will be used to this, that the plays of people at 3000+ is immense. I'm talking of the ingenious placements of Mei's wall to get access to places, Genjis that. just. refuse. to. die and excellent combos of Ults.

Battlefield is out soon but I'll probably still play this a lot with mates. smile

Good job!

I still haven't touched competitive to be honest, now at level 52. How long do the rounds actually take? I avoided it for the same reasons as CS:GO, back in the Source days we used to play on the clan server maybe 15 round games yet still took it fairly seriously, but how it is in GO along with the limited maps just seems too long to me.

I get a bit too frustrated with having bad games recently, maybe playing where people communicate more would help me. Even say playing JR hitting people square in the face every time but still losing regularly, or that, and if getting Mei'd wasn't infuriating enough to have it happen from the barest puff or barely aimed when you otherwise had them on toast mad It needs to take a tiny bit longer, and her ice block needs to be damageable.

Not sure I'm anywhere on skill level! I think only JR, D.Va or maybe Zenyatta I would be able to play to any great rank. My JR kd has dropped a bit recently, but I always try to play to the best I can. I like to play quite offensive, and when you really get to know the maps and can time mine-jumping around the place well, it comes together. So fun when you scare the crap out of people, see someone going up somewhere out the corner of your eye and mine up to appear right in front of them.

Got a lot better at D.Va too. It seems harder to get Ult kills now as people avoid better than ever, so I need to improve that, but I seem to have a nack where to move and not getting killed when out the mech. Only hero I ever get 0 death rounds in biggrin

DUDE. In my opinion, you're missing out on 70% of the game by sticking to quick play/brawls. Okay, perhaps that is a little harsh but you've hit the nail on the head regarding communication. I'm blessed in that I have 5 or so buddies to team up with. Having said that, if they're not about, I will play quick play as I don't trust the randoms. Each time, I'm astounded by how bad some players pick. Yesterday, I jumped in as D.VA and had 2 Hanzos and 2 Anas as teammates. Of course we got stomped. Competitive allows only 1 character to be selected so typically there is 2 DPS, 2 tanks, 1 Healer and... MEI/JR hehe In all seriousness, the games are close, intense and tactical. It feels like a different game compared to the other modes.

To answer your question, the rounds typically take about 15mins or so. The King of Hill modes have an extra round, so first to 3 rather than 2, otherwise the rounds don't feel overly long.

I wholeheartedly recommend trying competitive play. Just a word of warning, the placement matches (10 initial games to determine your initial rank from bronze>silver>gold>platinum>diamond>grandmaster) are NOT fun. You're thrown in with various people of different abilities and it is a touch soul-destroying- I lost 6 out of 10. After that, you're good. smile

thumbup I main Pharah and D.VA smile

I find the trick with D.VA's Ult is to either use complete surprise, or to fire the mech from a place far enough away that by the time it lands and they see it, they can't get away. Here's a multi kill I bagged from a few weeks ago:-

Thoughts on the Halloween brawl?

I think it's fantastic and co-op really opens up a new line to the game - I thoroughly hope they build on it. The sound and visuals are pretty decent too.

It's a very toxic game and co-op might be a way to ease that slightly.

Great idea, definitely removes the element of toxicity that came about from competitive. Sound is awesome, especially with a decent headset. Love the way it's so theatrical, too. Imagine I'll be playing it when I have a few losses in a row in comp to prevent me from throwing a controller at the screen!

New skins are good, too. Have bought a few with coins I had built up from duplicates.

Peak of 3086, down to 2800 at the moment because everyone wants to play DPS rather than tanks/healers for some reason. frown

As an aside, came across a top 300 Widow recently who was ridiculous. I was happy breaking the top 500 with Tracer and Top 1000 with Ana!

Agreed. The dialogue is superb. I'm really enjoying it and, as mentioned, hopefully it is something they can build on. smile

It is quite fun isn't it, nice to jump on for one go then do something else. Reminds me of MVM in TF2 in a good way, just a kind of cute and fun aside, very well done thematically. It wouldn't have to be narrated as this is a bit different here, but it's a good way to show more story in the game, though I can't see it being very often, lets see what they do for Christmas.

McCree is pretty damn good in this isn't he? Strange that you can ult more than 6 though scratchchin Forced to play Ana for the first time too, I wasn't doing the heal debuffs and sleeps enough, we lost but I didn't do too badly. Also I don't know what it is, maybe because they don't move like real players, I literally CANNOT play Hanzo at all in this, as my third most played.

Saw this which made me laugh http://i.imgur.com/TDHcVLj.jpg

Are those Youtube vids done through the PS4? I've worked out what I'm doing with Shadowplay on PC, and now have save last x mins on hotkey, I'll see if I can get some together to upload. I assume it will come out reasonably well if I keep the bitrate high as possible, getting a minor FPS impact on 1920x1200 60fps at 50mbits.

Yep! Just a couple of presses to be uploaded- I'm too simple for anything else... smile

Do it. I'm always fascinated to see new plays- loved that Zarya video from last week or so, on Reddit, of her shooting the ground with her launcher to gain height onto another floor. eeksmile

This isn't a new thing, rocket jumps have been around since the days of original Doom and Quake.
