Event has helped me out nicely, managed to get enough to evolve Raichu, Golem, Magcargo, Rhydon and just need one more Kabuto candy, one more bellsprout and one more shelder.

That's all along with catching Onix, Sudowoodo and lots more.

I take it you're doing the 7 day streaks, to get a guaranteed special item? I've had about 3 Up-Grades now. But you're right, this will be a limiting factor.

Back to normal, but an innocuous Rattata this morning finally got me to level 30. Boy, that >lv30 half CP boost for powering up is a pisser, eh?

I've had too many day-long workshops this week which impacted my lunchtime strolls so I did not manage to get my Blissey maxed during the event. It's at about 2500 though which is probably tanky enough for gym duties. May swap buddy to Grimer so that I can finally evolve Muk (need 19 candy), which apart from Machamp (53!) is probably the only evolution I can get by walking.

Did get Kabutops, Steelix, Macargo & Sunflora during the event though, now at 206/216 in the 'dex

Muk and Machamp are the only ones I can walk to get for Gen 1 completion. (Although I also still need an Hitmonchan.)

My Chancey has been on gym duty a little while now, but I'm hoping to hatch a better one, before lumping up to Blissy.

I have a 98% IV Dratini which I need 8 more Candies for to get to a Dragonite. He'll still need powering up, but I have my fingers crossed for good moves.

I would wager it's a VERY small number. I've caught a few of them (using the map obviously) and most of them have been in random residential places. I've one ever seen one spawn at Canary Wharf, one or two in the City and one in the West End.

I'm surprised the map helps that much. When I have seen something new on the map, it's always been miles away and would have disappeared by the time I got there (even if I had the time to spare).

Although I live in an area where one of the locals has made a tracker map which a few of us use, I found a random wild Ampharos a couple of days ago. Opened the app whilst eating my breaksfast, saw it on the second nearest stop and ran out of the house, abandoning breakfast!

The only Unown I've known of in our area appeared after our tracker was expanded to one of the smaller towns, on the first scan of that area, half hour away from me with only 10 minutes left frown Aside from regionals it's the only one I need for full dex now.

Sounds exciting, but what does gyms disabled mean? I hope I can still collect the coins/stardust in the meantime! frown

I'm hoping 'Gym's Disabled' means a full reset.

In Fleet and Farnborough all the gyms are level 10 red. Normally not a problem but these are all Blisseys, and all the same 10/12 user names.
One of the 'players' has identical CP Blisseys in 5 different gyms, the rest have Blisseys within 10/15cp

There is clearly a problem that Niantic can't seem to fix.

I guess the summer event has started today. Floods of Ponytas around here according to the radar thing!

Caught my first Lapras tonight. Had to head out in my dressing gown. I'm sure it was worth it.

Growlithes, Houndours and Cyndaquils everywhere here. Which is nice.

Also Shelldars but not so much on the Swinubs. (Both excellent vs Dragonites in gyms, at least for the next week or so.)

Got a couple of Charmanders, which I'm keen on as my Charizard has poo moves.

The XP catch bonus is nice, too.

Swinubs against Dragonites?!

The special event is great for me - lots of Houndour meaning I now have a Houndoom. And Cyndaquil everywhere should get me a Typhlosion.

Piloswines with good Ice moves (and Cloysters) will obliterate Dragonites.

Well, anything with Ice moves will, but there are so many of them about currently, it's worth filling your boots, working out which are strong from your trainer appraisal, and getting at least one with the best Ice moves, then maxing them out on CP.

If you want to easily take down Dragonites, anyway.

The Fire moves (Arcanine and Houndoom) are particularly effective against Scizor, although these seem to be less common in gyms.

I've been inundated with Cyndaquils and Houndours.
Makes a nice change though and nice to be catching and evolving new things.

Great tip - thanks. I'm such a muppet when it comes to attacking gyms - I tend to select my best Pokemon rather than think about what Pokemon will do well against those in the gym. With so many Dragonites in gyms, the Piloswine tip is worth trying out.

That would be good news for me.

In the town next to where I live, Team Instinct has a near monopoly on gyms with all of them being level 10 with seriously good Pokemon in them and have been that way for months. Even if you take a gym down a few levels, it will quickly go back to level 10 and I rarely have time or resources to take a level 10 gym down by myself. About the only gym that isn't level 10 Instinct is the one in the station as commuters swap it around several times a day while they're waiting for trains, so it rarely goes above level 3.

Anyone else noticed new Pokestops and gyms appearing? My village has a couple of new Pokestops and a new gym.
