Don't think there is a thread on here about this yet.

"My Summer Car is the ultimate car owning, building, fixing, tuning, maintenance AND permadeath life survival simulator. You start the game with hundreds of loose parts and assemble both car and engine."

http://www.amistech.com/msc/

Steam Greenlight trailer.

It has been accepted, and is now available on Steam.

Huh, looks good so I'm downloading it as we speak. There was a similar game released earlier this year called Jalopy. Not as detailed as this looks but is an interesting game none the less, worth a look if you like this kind of game.

Put this on the wishlist last night biggrin

As always with steam, the funny / top comments sell it for me. But I am interested to see just how in-depth it will be.

Was the Russian version of this called Jalopy? I've seen another where you have to scavenge around your town for car bits.

Ended up buying it and playing for a few hours - I have assembled the engine but completely failed at lifting the shell up to fix the suspension etc. In the end just got frustrated and pinned it sideways against a wall with the forklift biggrin

Have also learnt not to drive like a loon as it is easy to crash and die, which results in a long walk or drinking shop beers until you pass out.

Had a play last night and whilst driving the van I realised that the "H" key does not honk the horn, but makes you "Hit", so my guy punched the windscreen out. Tried to build the car but felt a bit lost figuring out what to do. Apparently putting the front sub frame on allows you to jack it up to work on further, I was looking around for some axle stands to prop the shell up on but to no avail.

Finally got the car on wheels last night, just the engine and interior to do now. I've yet to venture into any of the villages yet, mainly because the three times I've tried so far I ended up rolling the van and subsequently quitting, as I had a long, slow walk ahead of me back home. Need to buy food though as I have none left, also need to figure out how to use the sauna (oddly you can't use the shower to get clean, has to be the sauna!) so I can clean off, but from what I've heard it takes at least ten real-time minutes to heat up, and if you open the door it resets the timer so you have to sit in there the whole time! Can't be true surely, guess I'll find out later when I play again.

I took my car out for its maiden voyage today and after my misadventures in buying brake fluid (including two deaths and a whole lot of towing cars around) I decided to record it this time.

https://www.twitch.tv/madrob6/v/98621618

I left it with my van underwater and smashing the muscle car into a tree. Pretty normal stuff.

Haven't built my car yet, just got drunk, tried to drive the van to get more beer, then died.

I think there's a lesson in there somewhere.

Have been playing this for the past few days.
It is very amusing. Wheels are on the car and i am about half way through engine assembly.

A pro tip (or perhaps it is cheating) is to save your game before you venture out and explore. Then go to your save game folder and make a copy of it before you leave. This way if you die or crash you dont have to walk back for hours you can just copy the copy of your saved game back into the correct folder.

Your game is located in C:\Users\"Username"\AppData\LocalLow\Amistech\My Summer Car
Just make a copy of the folder named "My summer car" to your desktop and then if you die you can just replace the one in your game folder.

Also i have found that downshifting rather than braking makes all the vehicles handle much better.

I got around to sticking the bodykit on my car recently, looking a bit better now.

After making some more cash I figured I'd get a roll cage installed and drove over to the garage. I forgot to remove half the interior before hand so I just removed it outside the garage, then discovered that the diesel tank I'd left in the boot had bounced around and dented the crap out of it!

I couldn't get into the garage for some reason despite the guy being sat inside with his feet up so I decided to pass the time by drinking a couple of bottles of vodka I'd left outside as my payment from a previous job. This certainly passed the time as I couldn't see properly and then passed out before waking up a bit confused on a doorstep near my house.

So now I have to go and get my car again. My list of failures continues to grow!

Until you're hoofing it and accidentally downshift which causes a piston to fly out of the side of your engine!

Haha. Works best in the van i have found. I dont actually think you can mechanically hurt the van.

Got my car running and moving but it is overheating right away. Sadly i have to go to work in the real world now so i will have to troubleshoot it later.

I've been playing this for 2 days now, after re-starting 3 times I've finally got the hang of it.

So far I have a rolling shell and I'm about to start the engine build but I've hit a snag, any ideas how to sort this? laugh

Must be the model for the Australian market?

Grab the tractor and use the tow hooks to get it out. Make sure you drink lots of beer while doing this, this is very important.

You will almost certainly dent the life out of your little car whilst doing this. However another trick i have found out is that if you go to your save game file (C:\Users\"Username"\AppData\LocalLow\Amistech\My Summer Car) and delete the 'texture' file it will fix it right up when you start the game again. It just generates a new texture file automatically if that file is missing.
