Only "angry teens" care about companies that abuse their workers? Seems like a bit of a daft statement.

Anyway, what's been leaked has been chosen with consideration. We're not talking about a few pics or little importantance, the leaks contain details about the death of main characters, major story beats and the resulting gameplay.

I was on the fence about playing it as I thought the first game was boring, but now I've seen the leaks I don't feel inclined to play it at all. Naughty Dog's reaction in itself is enough to get a feel for the enormity of the spoilers.
The leaked footage appears to have been designed to well and truly scupper sales of the game so the narrative from Sony/ND that it was just a random hacker stealing data from ND's AWS servers seems a little suspect.

Also, the way that they went after Youtubers commenting on the leaks, by misusing DMCA takedowns, leaves a very bad taste in the mouth.

I was an absolutely massive fan of the first game - I think it was possibly the PS3s finest moment. But from what I know of the direction of the new game, plus the reprehensible actions of ND in its wake, I very much doubt I will even consider getting it.

I'll only get it If genuine reviews by reviewers I trust (typically Youtubers) find it good - I fully expect that the mainstream gaming press will be praising it to high heaven so I don't give them any credence whatsoever.

Unlikely a hack, or would have been reported as so. Most likely source is former/current employee. Have a look at some of the people working for ND and how they disliked the way the new game was being pushed, along with the treatment. Quite a few posts on Twitter I looked over while searching for the spoiler clips.the day it broke out.

The only gameplay I've seen looks ok? Same as before (though rather more killing people instead of zombies than I would like)...

Makes me laugh people complaining about the appearance of a woman in a world where there are bloody zombies all over the place.

Yeah, because the woman is the thing that is unrealsitic.

Bunch of incel neckbeards.

Fictional worlds still have to stick to the rules they created. Game of Thrones isn't realistic, but if a character walked into shot wearing modern clothes, it would break the illusion. The LOU has created a world where society collapsed a decades ago and everyone is eking out an existence by whatever means possible. Now suddenly the female version of Brock Lesnar turns up, having somehow found an ample supply of protein shakes and a fully functioning gym.

Yeah, because women can't be strong unlike those manly men who manage to be built in the same setting.

Face it, if she was a throwback to 90s character design there would be nary a whisper about it.

Never ceases to amaze me what people get outraged about when it comes to computer games. It's odd how it always seems to revolve around women, too.

And if you dare even point that out you get comments like the above. It's all a bit pathetic tbh.

How many muscle bound men were in the first game?

Is the point of Abby being huge that she is actually a man now living as a woman? Or is it the other way round?

Spoilers

Ellie was never that likeable so I wasn't all that concerned to read about her becoming the 'bad guy' when the game forces you to play as Abby. Joel wasn't all that likeable either for a number of reasons but it seems that his death early on is played for shock value. I am sure that this game is going to absolutely bomb compared to how it was supposed to perform.

Meaning I will be able to pick it up (pre-loved) from the likes of CEX, for a fiver...

My initial reply to this was removed, so I will just say that you are so right, and I am sure this game will fly off the shelves because it's what everyone has been asking for in their games. smile

So, it's out. Anyone have it? At the moment it seems a critical hit and a user review car crash. I have avoided spoilers (apart from the one that has been out for months) but sounds like people are taking serious issue with the unrelentingly miserable tone.

I've just started replaying the original on my PS4, still had a moment over that opening sequence.
Missed/avoided all the spoliers for this one but a big disconnect between the fans and pro's is usually a bad sign. Quite how anyone who hasn't had a pre-release copy can give a balanced review when it's only been out a few hours is beyond me and smacks of spoiled man-babies throwing thier toys out over some percieved slight.

I am so glad I cancelled my preorder. The leaks were all true, the trailers were misleading and it's a stshow of epic proportions that goes out of its way to laugh in the face of everyone who loved the first game. Also has perhaps the most uncomfortable sex scene ever put in a video game, seemingly made by people who have never seen a female body before. Then, just when you think it can't get any worse, the director of the game inserts a chracter who looks just like himself as part of the group that kills Joel

It appears to be because one of the women isn't as hot as they think they deserve her to be, and also because you know women and sjw ruining our video games.

Quite sad really.

Yeah, what fan of the first game, which brilliantly told the story of a man overcoming the loss of his daughter and forming a bond with another young girl, ending with a poignant scene that gave a ray of hope in a bleak world, could possibly be annoyed about Joel getting killed in the first hour, you being forced to play as his killer for a large proportion of the game (which Sony banned reviewers from disclosing to purposefully mislead people), Ellie turned into a complete psychopath who at one point stabs an unaware pregnant woman to death and has a story based revenge where she kills countless NPCs without hesitation but inexplicably lets Joel's killer go at the end? Then there's the fact the developer treated their staff so terribly most walked out or were fired, and they filed illegal copyright notices on people before it was launched. Anyone who doesn't agree that's masterful 10/10 storywriting is clearly a bigot who needs to get out of their mum's basement.

Can people really have played a game that was released yesterday enough to objectively review it? There are some trolls involved in that no doubt.

Still, I'm really not a fan of the deliberately misleading trailers - seems a strange decision as they know that will rile the internet fanboys - like they have gone out of their way to do so?

It also looks really, really bloody depressing and the violence looks pretty extreme. Will play it at some point.

I just finished playing The Last of Us on PS4 a couple of weeks ago for the first time - it having been sat in a drawer for 4 years or so! Really good game, a few clichéd moments, but very good indeed. I like the fact it didnt just throw mindless enemies at you every 5 secs and allowed the game time to breathe.

I've been very confused about Part 2. I know nothing about anything to do with it apart from the release date, up until I had a look at a couple of spoiler-free reviews yesterday. The reviews are mostly positive to glowing, yet the user comments and likes/dislikes are hugely on the dislike side with everyone saying the game is terrible before it's even been released.

What am I missing?
