I have the upgraded Ratloader and the upgraded Glendale so far. Didn't spend too much on additions to the Ratloader, and discovered that the free front scoop which comes with it is great for tipping over traffic, like the front of a Phantom Wedge but longer lasting. Haven't tried any of the paid-for front attachments.

The Glendale is a bit unwieldy with 6 wheels. I splashed out on a couple of expensive options on this:
- Nitro boost 100%: not like a rocket boost in its effect, but you can keep reusing the bar before it's fully recharged.
- Laser weapons: utterly useless. They fire too high to hit normal traffic or people. Only effective if you knock a vehicle onto its side with the front scoop thing and shoot it at point-blank range.
- Standard (free) front scoop is good; I'm wondering if it's ever worth paying to upgrade/alter this on any of the vehicles.

Overall, the Ratloader one is better so far, but I've not tried any of the others. And I've only tried them in free-roam, not in the arena itself.

My thoughts so far having been a bore trying out all the game modes and most of the cars:

Here Come The Monsters - two people in Sasquatches (monster truck Rat-Loaders) chase down a fleet of Issi Classics and try and crush them. A lot of fun, but very difficult for the Minis.

Hot Bomb - Like Infection in some of shooters - one person has a bomb and will die at the end of the count down unless they pass it on. Last man alive is the winner. This is probably the most balanced game type there is

Wreck It - This is Nascar meets Death Race meets Mad Max. Oval track, a lot of laps and as people get knocked out they can control the arena hazards making it even harder to survive. This should be a lot of fun with all of us.

Carnage - Basically a vehicle deathmatch. Last man alive wins. This one is a little broken - anyone who has a bike, and especially a weaponised one, has a huge advantage.

Flag Capture - Capture the Flag. Once again, this thing can be easily gamed by bikes on offence, and big trucks like the Glendale on defence. Might be fun to try with just 'regular' cars.

As for the cars:

'Normal Cars': By this I mean the Dominator, 350Z-alike, Impaler and that other muscle car (Imperator)S. These are a lot of fun, but overall only do well in the actual races rather than the full combat events.

Sasquatch (Monster Truck Rat Loader): Pretty much the same as every other monster truck we have in the game. If you buy it it comes with a scoop, but since the mode it's designed for actually requires you to drive over the enemies it's actually more of a hindrance than anything.

Scarab (Ripsaw/Fast and Furious Tank): Doesn't have the punch of the other MBTs in game (Rhino or Khanjali) but is fast, turns on a dime, and has a number of cool upgrades. Haven't used a custom one though.

Cerberus (Fuel Tanker): This actually comes with a flamethrower as standard, and is not bad, especially on defence or free mode. But in the arena it can quickly get overwhelmed when everyone's coming at it from all angles. But definitely good fun.

Death Bike (Gargoyle): This is stupidly overpowered. It has the stunt race mechanics where you can't be knocked off, but it's too small to be hit by most machine guns and death matches often just devolve into all custom bikes with guns. Excellent on offence and great at flag capturing - if you're going to buy one vehicle to do this update in, it has to be this.

The Brutus (van) is just so forgettable I can't be bothered to talk much about it. The Slamvan mod is hilarious but only good in free-roam. It's not manoeuvrable or tough enough in the arena. I changed the scoop too and it was actually worse so I think Jobbo might be onto something with leaving it stock.

I'll be on tonight if we want to have a meet up.

I can't remember the name of the one arena event I've tried - it involved one team getting checkpoints in the arena and the other team controlling guns, traps etc. Might be Flag Capture based on your descriptions, Challenger. Pretty boring for the team not driving around. Are there any others where one team is stuck manning gun turrets etc? Having not tried them, I sort of assumed they were all like that but it sounds as if that's not the case smile

ETA: it was Games Masters which I played. Not much fun with randoms, and bugged so I didn't get to start the second round and got kicked after 3 mins stuck in the spectator room with an unresponsive controller laugh

Ah yeah, forgot that one. Games Master has one team controlling the arena hazards, trying to stop the other team. It's not the best mode, but I think it's at least good to show you what you can do. Most of the hazards are available in other modes. There's a variation on the deathmatch called Tag Team where one of you is out in the ring and the others are on the hazard controls but that's still a dodgy one. But there are some more 'traditional' ones for sure.

So I'll be away over Christmas - still with my PS4 but with a different time zone and absurd ping I probably won't be able to play with you guys much. So we could do a muscle car meet up after christmas when they've probably released a few more cars. Since Arena Wars is still double money, may as well have a night of that! 8:00 start as usual.

Im enjoying this update so far, the new vehicles are fun but daaaaaaaaamn they are expensive.

Had to sell off a few cars and planes to even get started, ive picked up a fully modified gargoyle and a 350z thing so far and thats probably took me to north of 10mill.

Currently.grinding for a scarab, i think that will do me until some dripfeed vehicles come out.

Apparently wasting loads of money making a muscle car garage last week wasn't a great idea, didnt realise we had new content coming out!

A reminder to Jobbo that to get the free Christmas car you need to leave your apartment this year. :P
